No I don't think it is ok to use it especially when one is using it as a derogatory means. The word originally meant: a member of a socially disadvantaged class of persons. However now a days of course it doesn't indicate that but is construed negatively. Since most when hearing the word think of it's modern terminology I don't think it should be used. It's offensive and I don't care who is using it. I wouldn't go around calling Irish people "Micks" even though I am one and I don't see Italians going around calling each other W.ops, so why would blacks use a negative term like that about members of their own race? It makes no sense to me what so ever.

NO, I don't think it it is a good Idea, for Kids to do that out in public. amongst there friends I suppose it is ok, but not in the public eye. A lot of young people do this.
