Do you prefer carry out, or make your own?

My favorite pizza is made by my husband. He's an excellent cook, and loves pizza, so he can get very creative. He puts what he wants on his half, and I get what I want on mine. I love all the cheese he puts on it, where the carry outs never have enough. And I always get it hot too...lols

We had carry out close to where we lived before that I absolutely loved. Lots of cheese and a great crust. We've tried a bunch around here and I have about given up. I'm going to start making my own pizza I guess. I like lots of cheese and a lot of other toppings no one else in the hosue likes so I think it will work out well. The sauce is going to be an issue though. I'll probably have to make my own sauce since I've tried the canned sauces and haven't gotten a good response around here.

The Ragu Garden Vegetable, or Mushroom both make a great pizza sauce:) Just a short cut we've learned here at my house:)

Thanks I'll give them a try and will get some at the next grocery visit. I am still undecided on the crust - I know how to make the yeast version, but am wondering if I should get some prepackaged this time around and do the whole thing from scratch when I feel the energy and motivation. Sometimes I want to fix something in less than half an hour.

Hi QueenRainbow2001, I think one's preferences are largely dependent on the caliber of local pizza parlors, in terms of both the quality of their product and its economy. There used to be a Pizza Hut not far from where I live, and their produce was of a consistently high standard which drew me to their premises repeatedly. That facility was replaced by Hungry Jack's (a burger joint) but just across the road from them is a La Porchetta's family restaurant (another franchise) and the pizzas there are truly something to drool over - at very reasonable cost. I guess the benefit of home-cooking is the flexibility, creativity, variety, cost-effectiveness and possibly entertainment / recreation which it affords. However, that has to be balanced against the convenience and utility (with all the other readily available trappings) of a commercial establishment. I personally would opt for a La Porchetta's pizza over home-prepared, because they are just so good and have a substantial menu selection, as well as being served in a pleasant and conveniently close restaurant setting.

I prefer my own pizza. I don't care for take out but it has so much sodium and fat in it. I like being ale to fully control what goes into my food.

I used to like pizzas from takeaways, then I totally went off them. I stopped ordering takeaway pizza before it pit me off pizza completely. These days, I either eat at a restaurant or make it myself (I'm currently making a calzone).

I love making my own pizza. Of course I don't make my own dough, I get the already made kind from the supermarket, but everything else is all me. It's so much more gratifying to eat something that you made with your own hands. -Entiat-
