I bought some gnocchi at the store yesterday and I was thinking about making them for dinner tonight, but I have no clue what to do with them. Have you had them before? What were they served with?

I found a recipe online for Chicken and Gnocchi soup. I think it sounds yummy. You might try it, then tell me what you think. Here is the link.. http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_29970,00.html?rsrc=like

That sounds good. I printed it out for next time, but I have enough leftover gnocchi I could make it tomorrow.

My mother always treated gnocchi the same way she would pasta. I mean, it is basically a pasta made with mashed potatoes. She would often serve them with tomato sauce and meat sauce. My favorite way to have them though is with pesto sauce. The almost spongy gnocchi really suck up the sauce and when you make the pesto fresh, it is amazing. Wow, I can't remember the last time I had that to eat. You might have inspired me to go out and get some gnocchi for myself. Now I just gotta defrost some pesto.

I have recently discovered pesto. I mean, I knew what it was before, but I had never tried it. We will have some basil plants growing this year again. I will have to try them with pesto when the basil grows. Thanks.

I like them served with spaghetti sauce. I'd never heard of them until shortly after I got married my sister-in-law was making them. Her mother-in-law, who was Polish and Italian, always made them from scratch. Let me know how they turn out and how you like them. Annie

I bought the gnocchi at Trader Joe's in Brentwood yesterday. I got the shelf stable ones. They are pretty good. I made a BOLOGNESE SAUCE to go with it. I got the recipe for it here: http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,1935,145175-228198,00.html

gnocci! I grew up in an Italian neighborhood - and while gnocci is not one of my favorite pastas - it was usually served with a tomato based sauce. I would just as soon have them served with a butter sauce - garlic and mushrooms. on the side I would have an antipasto salad and garlic toast - for dessert a light dish such as mixed fruit or gelatin.

Seems to be an Italian food. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnocchi) I've never tried them myself. I hope you enjoy them.
