What do you think of the current Catholic Pope Benedict XVI? He was born Joseph Alois Ratzinger on 16 April 1927. * He is coming to the United States for a visit. Security is going to be very tight. Considering recent comments by bin Ladin, I hope it's tight enough, this planet's a tinderbox. * Wikki on Pope Benedict XVI~ * http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Benedict_XVI

He is known to be an intellectual giant. I could no less agree. When he speaks, he only wishes to convey the truth, however that may smite or unnecessarily hurt. Not that I'm justifying him. It's just that no one has ever made a serious statement about extremists (not Islamism, for record's sake) as Benedict did. I think that is just being true to his call to be a beacon of truth in the world. His reputation as a defender of the Catholic faith is just unparalleled. Far more essential, he is a very holy man, everyone should look to him for example. I love our Pope. I just do.

I think Pope Benedict could be a Pope of many interesting things. As a cardinal, he was regarded as one of the most conservative and one that more liberal minded Catholics feared. However, I think that's not been a bad thing in many ways, particularly when you see his efforts of trying to reduce a load of dogma into something simple - the relationship with Christ. I like the fact that he's reffered to himself as a humble gardener in God's garden. I doubt he'll reign as long as his predecessor on account of his age. And I don't think he'll be as politicised as the last Pope, who was known as one of the chief architechts of the fall of communism. However, that may be no bad thing - as we get used to a Papacy that focuses on the spiritual rather than political well being of the church.

Yes, there has been a lot of politics in every facet of life lately. Politics has been very hard for the every man to escape, there needs to be a shelter, at least in worship.

He is not afraid of taking heat for expressing how he thinks on an issue, that is for certain. He seems to have taken more heat on issues than John Paul, the Pope before him did.

You don't think that politics can stalk anywhere?
