I want the whole Las Vegas wedding. No family, just me and new hubby and maybe a few friends. I don't want a big deal made abou my wedding. I want to focus on starting out a marriage having fun with my man instead of going in debt. Well, I guess if we were to go in debt I'd rather do in Vegas rather than at home. lol

Bridal Carriage - A horse drawn bridal carriage as used at Gypsy style wedding.
It's a bit late in life for me to want a dream wedding, but I'll turn the clock back a few years. I live in a small village, in England. We have a church, which stands on a hill, just across the way from me, and one Saturday, several years ago, the bells began to peel, joyously. Then, I heard the sound of horse's hooves on the street outside, so I looked out of the window. Wow... it was a Gypsy Wedding, with flower-decked carriages pulled by shiny horses, mainly black in colour. There must have been six coaches before the bridesmaids' coach followed and then the bride and her father, the latter two carriages bedecked with flowers. It was a beautiful site. The coaches stopped opposite the pub, at the bottom of the steps to the church, and the wedding party, walked up the steps and footpath to the church, which was overflowing with guests. Those who were unable to get into the church, lined the path as the wedding party walked through. I've never seen anything so beautiful in all my life. The reception was held in a marquee in the farmhouse grounds, which belonged to the groom, and in the centre of the marquee was a fountain, which pumped champagne all weekend. Guests just walked up and filled their glasses from the fountain. Wow!! I think if I could turn the clock back, that would be my kind of wedding, my friend. Brightest Blessings.

The trouble is, I'm not Christian, I'm Pagan, so in the unlikely event that it were to happen at all now, I would have a Handfasting, but the same style could be adapted, and there would be plenty of merriment in the pastures! I'll remember the invite!

My sister had this big, grand wedding. It was way more than my parents could pay for, so she and her now husband paid for most of it. My brother-in-law didn't care, he just wanted my sister to be happy. And I can remember from childhood my sister wanting something big and glamorous. As for me, I have only two words: Vegas baby.

Seems to be the popular choice lol. I think everyone just wants to gamble who cares about the wedding.

No, actually I don't gamble. I want to go there so it won't give me time to change my mind. I have a deep seated fear I'll change my mind the night before the wedding. So if I go to Vegas, it wouldn't give me time to think. So when whoever eventually proposes, he better be ready to hit Las Vegas before I change my mind. I'm totally serious! : )

First, I would be thin :) My antiqued heirloom full length crocheted gown will have a high neck and long sleeves - there will be working pearl buttons on the back neck... and at the wrist. My veil is fingertip length, lace not toole (sp) with a half veil covering my face prior to the sealing of the sacrament. my flowers depend upon the season - but likely will be a simple array of wild flowers. my husband is donning a 3 piece suit in ecru color, he has a gold pocket watch with fob connected to the vest pocket... a sprig of babies breath on his lapel. His shirt is a pale blue (or periwinkle) silk. He is wearing a bow tie. The groomsmen have similar attire the maids have tea length gowns of ecru crochet lace over colorful satin - the colors will be beige for honor, periwinkle for one maid and pink for the other. They will have a ribboned floral wreath in their upswept hair... in their hands they will have stem flowers tied with ribbon. The Wedding will take place in an old old Catholic Church with the sun reflecting the colors off of the stained glass window onto the pews and people. The Mass will be Solemn High - chanted totally in Latin. The celebrant will be wearing his white with gold brocade The Altar Boys will be wearing swiss lace surplices The Bells will ring... celebrating our joy. After a reception at the Church hall - we will take our honeymoon.... but that, my dear, is a different question :)

I have been married twice and neither time was really my dream wedding. First wedding: Big traditional kind. I had a traditional wedding dress with a catherdral length train. It was in a big church and all decked out with flowers. At the time it was what I wanted until my ex-mil decided she wanted to help. That was a big mistake. The wedding ended up being just like she wanted it. Second wedding: Very small and private. My mom is a notary and was able to marry my husband and I. So it was just my dad, mom, brother, our kids, and us. No one else. No cake or dancing. But we all did go out to dinner at Chili's afterwards. When I married my husband I actually wanted a small family and close friends kind of wedding. But my husband hates weddings and won't budge. Now my Dream wedding: It would be a very romantic small family and close friends wedding on the beaches of Hawaii! I would have Hawaiin music playing and a pretty hawaiian flower in my hair. Hopefully I can talk my husband into renewing our vows in Hawaii someday!

Well I forgot to mention that my second wedding was actually held at my parents house and not at a court house. But basically the same thing. So, how about you and your husband just join us in Hawaii? We could have a double ceremony.

I would have loved to have gotten married at Niagra Falls. A lovely place with beautiful nature and scenes etc. A tad costly but worth it. Then the whole wedding party would ride the Mist Cruise under the falls. Then a trip into the Canadian side of the falls would be had as well for the reception. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

My dream wedding would be a DisneyWorld Princess wedding. It just looks so beautiful. I don't care who's there, if it's 10 people or 100, the atmosphere is for me, not the guests. As it is, I have to settle for Las Vegas. It'll be pretty enough, but it's no DisneyWorld. And I'm slightly offended by all the Vegas stereotypes. It's really not like that at all.

I am guessing that my dream wedding will probably not be anyone elses first choice. I want to be married to my lovely partner in a long purple and black velvet medieval style dress. I want him to be wearing a black velvet frock coat with a purple brocade waistcoat and a black top hat. I would carry a bouquet of purple and black flowers, and be in a medieval baronial hall filled with gothic architecture. I would want to have a banquet style reception for all my friends and either The Mission or Sisters of Mercy playing. A real old style full on goth wedding :-)

I never did dream of what my wedding would be like. I am married and it was small, it was in a friends home. My mother made my dress for me and it was even more special because of that. So, no dream wedding for me but I would not have had it any other way.

Ok I am going to cheat a bit because I already had my dream wedding, my wedding was everything I wanted and was just lovely. It did not cost a fortune and we did not get into debt but it was just perfect, so what I will tell you instead is my dream of having my vows renewed. I dream of having them done in America, either in New York or Las Vegas or somewhere exciting, just me, hubby(obviously) and the kids and we will have a holiday at the same time and it would be lovely.
