What is the value of money nowadays?

Everytime I go to the market to buy food and stuffs for our daily needs. I am always surprised of the continuing rise of prices. The price of pork rose by 50 pesos? The price of rice from what I usually buy from 25 rose to 33-35 pesos? I usually receive my monthly budget from my husband who's working abroad, 20,000 pesos. But I'm going to tell you all, that amount is not enough for our budget anymore. I wonder what is wrong with this. Oh, and I heard that by next week, prices of petroleum products will also rise and the transportation groups are seeking for another fare hike. I wonder what's the government is doing about this. Now, in your opinion, does money has value nowadays? Is this happening also in your country?

My wife has the same problem with you. Even if I am sending her more, she still finds its hard to budget the money. Yes the value of our peso is getting smaller and weaker. This has to be given priority and attention by our government.

Government blames it to La nina, but I think the one to be blamed here is the government itself and businessmen who is into hoarding. I agree with you that this has to be given priority and attention by our government.

that's the usual question these days, "what's the value of peso now?" everything went up, from petroleum products to every little thing in the market or grocery. i wonder how we, my family survive with my very little income as a government employee. even the bar girls raised their fees. lol

I believe this is also happening everywhere, though it has been a problem to us for quite a long time. Then come the world crisis, food, energy and those climate phenomenons. I do believe that our government is doing everything they could, but the blame should be put to them as well. They lack in discipline, poor governance and full of controversies and scandals make them worse than our poor fellow Filipinos. It's a shame, every time we try to step forward, controversies will come to pull us two steps backward..

I agree Dhangski that the value of our money is depleting and we cannot stop but sigh. It does always remind us to spend wisely and with certainty. This is the time that we can only spend for what is needed. I'm from the PI to, my heart goes with you..

Almost all commodities nowadays increase very rapidly. We are aware of the price of rice, about 40% increase this is due to hording it by rich capitalist for the panic buy that would happen soon. Almost all countries now experience this horrible increase of goods. News said that this will also an effect of the global warming. So, we must be careful to our daily budget. Minimize expense and maximize income.
