My husband and I got married when i was young and we bought a cheap ring set. I have been conteplating getting i guess an "upgrade" as we can now afford it or would that be to petty? I know that the ring i have now holds an amount of significance since it was given to me on our wedding day but is it wrong to upgrade?

I don't think it would be petty or wrong. Many couples will get something to go with the original ring as an upgrade, or perhaps use the stone(s) from the original ring and create a new setting for it. I have a princess cut solitaire and a celtic cut band, the band is cheap but original, I've never seen another like it.

My husband bought me a new wedding set for christmas last year. It's very similar to my original set, just a bit bigger. I wear my original wedding band with it. I also bought him a new wedding band for christmas this year as his was so cheap that after wearing it for a couple of days we had to bend it back to round to get it off his finger. We still have all of our original wedding rings, but with the exception of my band they are locked up in a drawer. I don't think there is anything wrong with upgrading. When you are married your relationship grows and matures why shouldn't the symbol of your relationship?

i personally wouldn't give up the first set giving to me. it means way to much to me. have you ever thought about maybe just getting an anniversary ring to wear on the other hand. it could be bigger and better, but still you would have that orginal piece that was given to you first. i don't think it matters whether the ring is small or big, but that first ring is so special and so meaningful. i wouldn't give it up, but maybe do the other. God bless

I don't think it's wrong to make an upgrade for your wedding rings. If you can afford a new and better one, why not? Especially if your marriage has been a successful one, that would be a nice reward for the both of you. And, I'm sure you're not going to dispose off the old rings when you get your new ones.

No it's not wrong to upgrade. My husband and I plan on getting new ones in time. We got cheap ones from walmart. We want personalized ones from Kay's. With our anniversery date and our names. We had those to begin with but I was alergic. Go for it.

I don't think its wrong to upgrade, you can wear it on your other hand. I myself would like to upgrade my wedding band, its just a plain gold band, and its so scratched up. My b-day is next month so I've been hinting around..lol
