God created man because He wants to be with people. But God is holy and He cannot be with the unholy and so not all people can live with God and God created hell wherein He will throw all people who disobeyed Him while they lived on earth. The people who obeyed Him while they were on earth will be the ones to be grabbed (or saved) into heaven on the last day. The whole duty of man is to fear God and keep His commandments (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14). I believe God created us out of Love. So God could bestow love upon us that we might turn to God and love God and know God.

Rick Warren's book, "The Purpose Driven Life," says that we were created to please God, and I agree!

We were not created to please God, we were created becouse it pleased God to do so. God wants us to look for him and chase after him. He wants us to return to the creator

To know him and to enjoy and worship Him. And I see that as the purpose of life. Apart from God I don't know what the purpose of life is.

Created to please God? So do our parents create us to simply please them? Or is it supposed to be out of love? And for you to learn what it is that makes you happy, sad, strong, weak. To learn lessons in life and make lasting relationships. To create a stronger family and sense of security and the idea that there is a greater whole outside of ourselves. To "please God" shouldn't we take care of our fellow man? To forgive and accept, isn't that what piety and religion are all about? We're a team, not servants. As above, so is below. Besides, God needs us just as much. Without us, there is no "God", without "God", there is no us....
