Improper use and too much cosmetics can irritate contact lens which can lead to dry eyes, allergies, and infection. These cosmetics include face powder, eye makeup and hair spray. Flaky, powdered and misty cosmetics have granules that can easily enter the eyes and settle as deposits in contact lenses which can irritate and infect the eyes. Symptom include eye redness, swelling, blurred vision, and painful sensation. Soft contact lens wearers should know how to apply cosmetics properly and avoid greasy make-up. They should use pressed powder instead of loose powder; and gel, cream or liquid makeup instead of powdered ones. It is also recommended to use hypo-allergenic cosmetics especially designed for contact lens wearer.

It's a good thing I am not much of a make-up person because I do wear contact lenses. Thanks for this informative tidbit. =)
