What age does "tween" officially start?

My dd is eight and I can't help but notice so many changes are happening for her this year. She's become more observant of the people around her, her physical appearance, her behavior, etc.... I can't believe that in less than five years we'll have a teenager on our hands. Times are definitely different than when I was her age:)

I don't think the term "tween" was used for us back in the day. There were pre-teens and I always thought that started out about 12. My almost 9 year old infomred me the other day that she will officially be a tween in a week. So I guess it starts around 9 and goes till 12ish. This is a new term for me. But I hear ya on times are changing. She acts a lot older this year. More concious of the way other people view her. More concious about fashion, make up(which she has a natural knack for) and B O Y S ughhhh. I think she grew about an inch over the last month too.
