Well I made an attempt at making a homemade dressform which IF I'd had the PROPER type of tape, would have worked out beautifully..Unfortunately I had to substitute and though it turned out well, it just didnt last long...So I've decided I'm goin to break down and buy a damn dressform...Any of you seamstresses out there own one? Any suggestions on what to buy or what to avoid? Keep in midn I'm not looking to spend hundreds on this thing but I do want a fairly decent one thats adjustable for a nice price thanks in advance

I don't have a dressform, which is probably why I don't make much more than skirts with elastic waistbands. :) I know that I've seen a dressform at JoAnn's for less than $100, but I suspect that was a special deal. If there's a Craigslist in your area, check that--a lot of people are often trying to get rid of dressforms and mannequins. :)

i do not have a dress form either is that like the dummy doll that you model the clothes on while you are sewing them? i know what they are i have just never known the proper name for them haha i love making my own clothes and sometimes they do not turn out so great because i do not have a dress form either so i plan on breaking down and buying one myself are they really expensive? i would imagine that they cost at least one hundred and i do not have that kind of money to spend i might try looking on craigslist or ebay for a used cheap one
