Have you ever felt that someone at work wanting to cause you grief or if possible cause the boss to get angry with you and get you fired..How did you find out...what did you do to remedy this. Do you think people become jealous of other people's success at work?

Hi littlefranciscan! Yes, there was this one instance when this co-worker of mine started telling lies about me and blaming me for things that are really untrue. At first the manager took side and well, she sided on her. I felt devastated but after a little investigation, the truth was told and it was all lies that were fabricated by my co-worker so she will get her promotion. Unfortunately, because of what happened I resigned but my manager didn't want to accept my resignation letter and was offering me an increase and apologized. I did not accept and went through resigning because I believe that the management have accused me quickly and if not only with the insistence of my other co-workers demand for investigation and the owner of the company was informed about it, that is why there had been an investigation. I guess I could not work with that manager again.Just my thoughts. Take care and have a nice day!

I know that people become jealous of someone else at work who is more sucessful. I was doing just fine in myjob at our local library working as a page until our second in command got moved up the ranks and another lady came in to take her place.with this new second in command nothing that we were doing was right. she changed everything and she decided that as I was almost eighty she did not want an old lady working under her.so she kept nagging at our boss the branch manager until one day when I went to ask her for a leave of absence it all became clear to me. Emily told me as she had so many times, you are really one of the best workers I have ever seen so I hate to have to do this. I am afraid I am going to have to let you go. Ohmy this is so hard. I wanted to yell then do not do it. but what could I say? she had already did it, fired me. I did nothing as there was nothing I could say.The second in command had won out yet again.

Oh My..how sad to hear this..Sometimes some people really do some brownnosing and whatever else to get the managers or bosses favor.. You were done quite an injustice..but you know that if this happened..that situation is only heading to something worse.

I see these evil colleagues everyday, they do everything to box you below the belt, to soil your reputation with your bosses, at the end of the day you only see envy and their evil machinations at work-i usually prefer to shame them!

Jealousy is usually the culprit. Some people think that making someone else look bad will somehow make themselves look so much better. The best response I've found is to smile with patience. It will always come back to bite them in the butt eventually. :) The sad part is when it is kids that do this kind of thing. Just look at the latest craze of girls ganging up to beat up another girl and posting videos of it on the internet. The latest group was getting high fives from everyone at school the next day. That's how the teachers knew something was up. But now that they are facing criminal charges, they are being avoided and no one wants to know them. So so sad.

I agree..jealousy..is the motive.. I know there was one person who confided stuff and I think she/he did it merely to upset my peace..the things they said about me and about my work made me wonder what in the world was going on..

I had a situation where there were 4 people in the office in the company actually. There was the 2 bosses. 1 did the sales, 1 did the techancale stuff, the marketing / p/r guy and me the bookkeeper. The marketing guy was threated by my knowledge in every thing. I know P/R (public relations) Marketing (top in my marketing class) plus I know the bookkeeping part of the job. I feel like he was threatened because I gave my opnion during our weekly meetings. I have the knowlegde and was willing to share it. I never tried to "up" him it just so happened the bosses liked my opinion. So he did everything to get my in trouble. He would look at every thing I did. Then he would question it. The funny part was he didn't even know how to question it because he didn't know my job. In the end I told the bosses, look I know my job I will stay out of his if he stays out of mine. I have NO reason to answer to him and I am not going to any longer. A couple weeks later I found out I was pregnant and quit. I didn't need the stress. I think in the end I would have quit anyway pregnant or not. Yes I think people become jealous of other peoples sucess at work. Every one tries to better then the coworkers. I am so happy I found the job I have now. Its just me and the boss (and he has NO clue as to what my job really is lol), every one else is in the field!

For me..I think work should be working together ..not running a race..this is one place where competition should have not place..it should be more what can I do to help the other then what can I do to get ahead of the other..Usually the person who gives the most never has to say anything it's quite obvous.

i worked for more than 6 years and i experience different situations with regards to jealous in a certain work. i don't know why i always get into trouble. my workmate did wrong the manager will caught and expect that i am the one made the mistake. i really frustrated. then only remedy for me is to resigned and that what i made. now, i put up my own business and it's far different from an employee.
