Ok people I am gonna put this one out there because there is this pill I take and by the title you can guess what it is (Topamax). I have seen many other people posting on here about different positive and negative side effects on it. Positive being from weight loss, pain relief, and other things it was ment for. Negative to being it making you forget things, more intense memory loss, and other things. Now I am going to tell you MY side effects I personally have had that have been positive and negative. Then I want to know from you guys what you have heard or experienced about this pill. First, positive things I have experienced are of course the pain relief that it is supposed to give which it is ment for in the first place (was originally given for pain in my legs and back). Also, weight loss was experienced which was a big thing because I have tried everything out there and this is the FIRST thing that has in any way helped me lose weight at all (to put things into perspective im well over 400 lbs.) which yes I know I just put my weight on here but I wanted you guys to realize that it was Huge for me when it worked. Another positive thing that happened when I took it was that it helped with me being a little more "here" if you know what I mean. Before I started it I used to be in so much pain I would not be the same person I guess (to me in a way) and now I feel more like me kinda. Now the negative parts that I experienced which recently have gotten a bit worse (hence the post). First came the tiredness which I expected due to the fact that it was a pain medication and was to relieve pain so I figured it might make me a bit tired. Then came the slight itchy feeling now and then where I thought that I would have a flea or something on me and I didn't (but only a little). Then came more and more tiredness and I almost felt like a zombie at one point. It then started to wear off at one point but then so did the meds and the pain started to come back so he raised my meds (the doc). Then my dose was to a point that for a while (for about the last month) I couldn't even be in a dark room without thinking I was going nuts with things crawling all over me. All sorts of stuff like bugs, roaches, anything you name it I would swat at my legs and arms (mainly legs). I couldn't sit with the light off cuz I thought I was going nuts. Finally, the night before I went to see my doctor a few days ago I fliped when a real bug did jump on my leg in the dark and I spotted it with a small LED light I have and flung it so far accross the room it wasn't funny. Needless to say when I told the doc he lowered my meds and said we would go from there and said it was a side effect from the Topamax (to have the crawly feeling). But that mine was going overboard and we needed to get it under control. So what have you heard, read, or experiencend? Lets hear your two cents worth. Peace Out for now (sorry for the huge post I got in a talking mood lol). ~*~J_Dawgs~*~

I took Topamax for about 2 years for bipolar disorder. It really wasn't effective for that even if it is supposed to be a mood stabilizer. What it did help with, though, was my migraines. I recently started it again for the migraines. I haven't really noticed any side effects, before or now. Maybe it just reacts to your other meds? I know my doctor had to do some research to make sure I could take it now that I'm on Lithium, Celexa and Geodon. I think the side effects are different for everyone. I just hope that I can experience the weight loss side effect!!!

My mom started taking Topamax when she began having migraines. Her migraines made her confused as well as caused her pain. However, she started having side effects from Topamax that in some ways were worse than the pain. She would get confused, and not able to remember things, I mean really disoriented. It affected her job. Her doctor eventually took her off of it, and her migraines are now dealt with on an ocassion by ocassion basis.

The confusion seems similar in the memory loss problem and the memory loss seems to be very common among all people who have responded with problems so far, including myself. I am really thinking about getting something different or lowering dosage or something because of this. Thanks for the input and the reply much appreciated. ~*~J_Dawgs~*~

Wow...I didn't know anything about this. Sorry to hear you had this kind of trouble. Thankfully I don't take any meds other than daily aspirin to keep my blood thin. I do remember once when I had 2 absessed (sp?) teeth and I had to go to the hospital and they gave me a shot in the butt. I got home, collapsed and don't remember anything till the next day. I was told that I began clawing at my face b/c I thought I had bugs all over it and they (Mom and Stepdad) had to put big puffy winter mittens on me to keep me from tearing up my face. Not pleasant. I'd definately get this stuff under control though...anything that alters your perception in your mind has to be used very carefully to be sure it doesn't become a permanant alter. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I have never tried topamax before it may be something I want to look into. I just got a hcg injection and am waiting for the positives and negatives on that. Has anyone else gotten one? http://hcginjectionkit.com
