Don't go for the vista either.I have used it and its too slow and not even that much reliable and compatible as that of the xp as it doesn't supports many important programs and installation of the some softwares. Moreover many games found a great difficulty in running on this operated system called vista so i should advice you to switch on to the xp only and if you want your xp with the vista look you can install vista anthracite pack that will give the look of pure vista to the xp and it wouldn't even effect the speed of the xp.

My pc does not support vista, so I need not buy vista. I don't think it is bad, but I still like xp. I have worked with vista, but I am very much satisfied with xp.

My aunt has had the most terrible problems with Vista. I am OK with the operating system but the new version of Word and Excel are just driving me nuts. There is nothing intuitive about it. All the buttons and menus are gone and you have to go in and add them to the tool bar yourself. I hate it!

Unlike many people responding here I have experience with vista, and my computer runs on vista. I have found no issues with it and have been able to run every single program I have tried on it. The problem with vista is that it uses up a bit of memory. Unless you have a high quality newer computer I would not recommend it. My computer: Running windows vista home premium Dell inspiron 531 2046 MB RAM AMD Athlon X2 dual core processor 32-bit operating system Dan

Well I have seen it with one of my friends. It gives a pleasing look. But still I prefer windows XP and LINUX.
