When you go grocery shopping

Do you have your list written by aisle as much as possible or do you just wing it with a random list or no list? And do you work methodically through the store going to this section, then this one, then that one, etc...or do you go back and forth to get things? I am quite methodical in the whole approach- my list is by aisle (as much as possible, I never feel like writing what is in each aisle at the store, but I plan to!) I start at the back aisle, work my way to the front where the produce is, hit the produce section, then meats, then cheese then dairy at the back of the store. Then I go back to the front and get any freezer items then head to the checkout. That sounds like a lot of back and forth, but its not my fault the dairy is at the back and the freezer stuff is at the front. I suppose I could do the aisles front to back, then dairy, cheese, meat, produce and frozen...I guess I figure the produce can be out of the cool area longer than dairy- and I live about 40 minutes from the store so I want everything kept cold as long as possible. Please tell me I am not the only one who thinks about it this in depth...

Always, always, always a list I forget things on my list when I have it sometimes so always a list. Then I just walk up and down isles in case something strikes me or there is something on sale that I know we will use and is a really good deal. Since we are on a fairly tight budget I try not to pick up too many things that aren't on my list. I always have to go back because I usually miss things, it's definitely not methodical it's very scattered and messy so the list is essential.

I used to be more methodical when I shopped, but not quite as much as you! I just make a list and then go through the store from one end to the other and hope that I don't miss anything. Often I do and have to chase back for the odd or end thing that I left behind. The thing now is that they just totally redid the entire store and it is easy to miss things since some things are in the opposite end of where they used to be and some things I haven't found yet!! I still can't remember where a few things are without asking, and it isn't that big a place, just totally changed around.

I never used to write a list then when I moved to the boonies and the store was quite a distance I got into the habit of writing a list. I make out my meal list for the week then write the list as to where the aisles are and the food located. Then I moved back into town and stated to get lazy then the store re organized and now my list is a shambles each week and I am forever forgetting stuff!

I always go to the grocery at the weekend. As I have enough time so I have never made the list and I think there is no need to do that.I also just hang in it and look for what I need.So sometimes I even will buy the things I have never thought of.But I don't think this is a bad manner.

I try to go at least 4 times a week, I look out for specials and also markdowns. Like a pack of 6 fresh buns costs you $2 but if you wait till later in the afternoon or evening they can be marked down to 98 cents which for buns that are still almost fresh and taste the same is good value!

When I go groccery shopping I just write my list, and go. I don't need to keep track of what aisle it's all in, because I know my way around the groccery store, extremely well. I can find anything I'm looking for in only a couple of minutes.

I go with a random list. I keep a notepad on the fridge and whenever we run out of something we just put it on the list so thats how my list are when we go to the store.

When I go shopping the first thing I do is to look into my fridge to see what's running low or what item I need more of. Then write a list for me to carry to the grocery. I don't shop in any particular order, I just make sure that I get everything on the list and don't over spend.

I am quite organised! I attempt to write my list by doing a mental walkround of the store as this makes life much easier as we use a Walmart super center and its huge and if you forget something then it's a long way to walk to fetch it. So it health and beauty, pets, cleaning stuff, dairy then thru the groceries ending up at freezers, fresh stuff and the bakery. Breathing a huge sigh of relief we can then head to checkouts woohoo.

I never write a grocery list as I would never stick to it. I just start at the back of the store and work my way forward towards the check out counters. I know I am not very orgainzed but that is the way I have always done it.

I sometimes have a list, and sometimes not, and we go down the aisles, and then get the groceries as we go along. We do the eggs and dairy products last, and if we want to buy ice cream, do that the very last. I have a friend of a friend who does shopping for her extended family and she knows the grocery store aisle by aisle and she writes everything down, but we have a general idea where to get what we need. Our store is designed so the last place you go to is the produce and then the bread, or you could get the produce first, then the bread, and go back down the aisles. The meat is at the very back and the dairy products near them.

I write a list of everything on sale that I know I want. Then write down the stuff I need. I make sure it is in order of my store set-up. Well a much as I can. Then I go down the aisles and if something catches my fancy I buy it too! LOL

I always write out a list. I would be lost without one. I do buy a few things that are not on the list though. I also organize the list by what isle the stuff is in. I think this makes the grocery trip take less time. It also helps me get more food for less money. I always sit down about a week before going shopping and write the list. And no you are not the only one that thinks about it in depth.

lol. Interesting. i don't think too much about this. It seems that the supermarket i go frequently is too small. Anyway, i don't make a list, just at random. i'd go home and find that the thing i most wanted to buy is not in the plastic bags. but both of my hands are full with the heavy other things. Your is much better, i can try. Lynette~~
