Do you want something? Use a 30 day list.

Use a 30-day list. To curb impulse buys, create a 30-day list. When you want to buy something, other than a true necessity (medicine or food, for example), put it on this list, with the date you added it to the list. And make it a rule that you can’t buy anything for at least 30 days after you put it on the list. Go over the list and take things off if you really dont want them or thing they are not needed. You will buy a lot less.
Do you use a system to decide if you really want things?

I just try to wait. Whenever I see something in a store, I really try and go over whether or not it would be extremely beneficial to have on hand right at that moment. If I can't come up with a good reason as to why it would be beneficial, I try to ignore the urge to buy it and move on. Then, if I'm still interested in the item about a week or so later, then I really consider buying it, even if I don't buy it right away. Of course if I wait long enough on certain items, the urge goes away and I don't have to worry about buying it. Always saves me the trouble. I just have to get past the strong urge in the store which is always the hardest part.

It helps alot with the impulse items that just cause you clutter later. I am trying so hard to get better at it.

This is a really good idea. I had not heard this way to save before. It wil work because you would be AMAZED at what you find you can really live without if you don't get it right away.

Most definately. There have been a few times that I went into the store and spend an entire month of spending money and we had to live with out things that I really should have got instead. It is something I am working on.
