A Sad Commentary During Wartime...

The Memorial Day Parade in Sheboygan, Wisconsin has been cancelled this year... due to lack of interest. The first hit was taken when the United Military Association of Sheboygan disbanded last year. They traditionally been the organizers of the parade. The Vietnam Veterans of America (Sheboygan Chapter 618) took over the duties. They contacted 40 past participants, including musical groups, vet organizations and law enforcement. Only 14 returned their intent to participate. I'm hoping this is more the result of a trend against parades in general and not a sign of waning interest in honoring our fallen war heroes.

I think it might be two thing going on here. First people for the most part could careless about a parade. I also think there is some anti-military going on here. I agree that we should honor fallen war heroes, but maybe something besides a parade. Maybe some kind of BBQ at the park. A pretty day at the park remembering the heroes that protected our rights to have a BBQ at the park.

Nah, Sheboygan has a pretty strong anti war crowd, but they still treat the vets and soldiers pretty well.
