Aches and pains.....

Do you have the dreaded aches and pains in your body? Are there some days where you find it hard to get out of bed and get started? If so do you take medication, natural or otherwise or just cope with it? Some days can be worse than others, and what one has done in the course of the day can make for the results the next day. What do you do when all else fails? Am interested in what one does on these days!

Oh Caramello do I ever! I have chronic back pain which also travels down my leg despite surgery. I have been on many combinations of strong pain killers but none have really worked - they leave me feeling very groggy, drowsy and spaced out but don't really do much for the pain at all! I have also tried acupuncture which unfortunately didn't work, I have had a therapeutic lumbar epidural which did take the pain away totally for a few days but from there it built right back up to the worst point again within a few weeks. I am getting another epidural in a few weeks and they hope the benefits and pain relief will last a bit longer this time! There isn't much that does help when the pain gets to bad but I do use heat packs and try to visualise myself in a happy place where I am lying relaxed and happy on the beach listening to the ocean and feeling so relaxed and pain free! It works for a little while but unfortunately not very long! ccc

Living with pain on a daily basis is not the way we would like to be and even if having surgery has not helped as much as you wish, sometimes taking meds. are the only way out as long as it is not long term I guess! Trying to relax and taking the mind off the pain can sometimes work even for a short relief but then is is stil there. So many people live with pain, some worse than others, we need something that can take it away so to live a normal days life, that would be great! Hope you are having a good one today mummymo.

That is so very true Caramello! I have tried so many different things that just don't work but I am not going to give up trying! xxx

My most dreaded pain is the PMS which rarely occurs anyway. But when it attacks it drives me crazy. I would writhe, twist and turn in pain and sometimes even get me to the point of cutting my wrist. But once it disappears as if nothing happens. Whew!

Oh I remember those days very well Jemina and when it does vanish it is such a relief but very unpleasant at the time. Only to know you have to go through it all again next month.

Oh please I wouldn't want them to occur every month, not even once a year. Thankfully, I have not been experiencing it lately. I hope it will stop bothering me forever.

My knees have been giving me so much pain lately. It sometimes is difficult to get up when I am sitting. I take a deep breath and push through the pain. I do take ibuprofen for the pain, but it doesn't make it go away. Not even sure if it makes it tolerable. As long as I don't go up and down stairs or try to get up from a low point I am fine.

Have you had your knees checked out as I had one operated on a few years ago for repair, but in the colder weather they do tend to give me problems and stairs are a killer! I try not to take anything but some days one needs a little relief.

I have suffered with chronic pain now for years. I was just using over the counter medication but it wasn't really working very well. The problem comes in I'm allergic to many of the pain medications out there. My doctor has me on darvocet right now, it's the only thing I can take. I try not to take it because I don't want to get used to it. As it is it doesn't get rid of all the pain but it does put it down in the manageable range. There are days when I have a lot of trouble getting out of bed. There are also days when I have trouble sleeping due to the pain level. You are right some days can be worse then others. When the days are good I know some times I over do and then I pay for it the next few days. When all else fails and nothing touches the pain I just try to find a comfortable spot and not move. I hope that it passes and that eventually the pain meds will kick in so I can function once more.

It makes it hard when you are allergic to any medication that you require. Having found something like resting to relieve the pain is good if it works as the natural relief the better, but if that fails meds. for pain is the only other option. Hope you find the relief very soon.

Thanks I appreciate it. The darvocet at least makes it managable. I haven't been pain free in so long I doubt I would know what to do if it happened. Probably go into shock

That is not good sue and hopefully you are making a recovery by now. Bed rest is a great thing when unwell and the best place for it but sometimes being in there too long it makes it harder for me to get out with my back. Yes a virus has to ride itself out and sometimes feels like it is taking forever.

I have been blessed with fairly good health, but do grunt and groan when getting up in the morning.. I take an occasional Ibuprofen and that is all.. I do take a little bit longer to get to moving really good when first getting up but after being up for awhile, I am going good.. Here's to getting older, Cheers, we all gotta do it if we live long enough.. Take care and Happy posting.. Donna

Getting older does have a few down falls...one being the aging of the body but glad to know you are going good.
