opinions, to speak or not to speak

Everyone has an opinion, and about pretty much every thing. We have opinions on clothes, food, actions, doctors, football teams, and any other thing you can think of. But how do you express those opinions. Do you just speak your mind regardless, or are you more reserved like I am, and voice your opinion when asked.

I can be both. It just depends on what the situation is I guess. Sometimes (and not often) I am reserved, and then other times, I let them have it. :)

Sometime, someone needs to 'let them have it' and i must say you can be quite articulate!

I know your opinion on many things, and I didnt torture you to get them.....so, that must mean that you voiced them.

i will voice out my opinions based on the perceptions and belief i hold about things...people are different and think differently...people look at different angles..i will not be afraid or give it a thought about what others may think about my opinion..

I think its good for people to voice their opinions. I used to be pretty much opposite of the way you describe yourself. Now I am somewhere in between. I generally give my sincere opinion when asked, but I seldom volunteer it.

hello jer31558, opinion, personal or not, still depends on our guts to broadcast whatever its weigh... what is important is we are able to express whenever it is needed, necessary and important, moderating the hurt it will cause to others... be considerate, digerati

Hi there Jer, this is a tough question for almost all of us mylotters. here is the thing I see, you should not post a discussion at all if you do not want to see all sides of the coin. If you ask a question that needs to be stated as an opinion you are bound to get differing opinions. You have to have grace and a stiff backbone to accept these differences. I do state how I feel, I am that way in my life as a whole and I do not change the way I am just because i am afraid someone here in mylot is not going to like it. Now there are ways of presenting your opinion with out it feeling like an attack on the poster who started the thread. I would want anyone participating in my discussions to feel at ease and comfortable to state exactly who they feel and what they believe.

I was more referring to life in general, at work, the gym, etc. I had not considered how it may apply to mylot discussions as well, thank you for bringing that up. I always welcome all sides of the coin. There have been times in my life in which if someone hadnt made a painful comment, I would not have made changes to better myself. Again, thanks for the post and bringing up something I hadnt thought of.

Well if I am with my family I don't hesitate to say my opinion about different things that we talk about. If it is a friend that I have known for some time it is the same as with family. But there are those that I will give my opinion to when they ask my opinion. But if they ask my opinion they will get the straight scope from me. I believe in telling the way it is.

I can see that, I believe that there are many circumstances that dictate how your opinion should be voiced. For instance, you wouldnt voice it to a small child the same way as you would an adult.

I have no problem stating my opinion . I do try not to hurt anyones feelings though.
