Hello all my great friends here at myLot, a moment ago as I was doing a posting, I noticed that my star rating has changed to the blue 10. To say that I am over the moon is an understatement. I have been on the yellow 9 rating (95/100) for many months now, and I have been wondering how I will be able to achieve that 10 rating. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone here who has played a part, no matter how big or small, in helping me achieve this rating. I truly treasure your support and friendship. Now my challenge is to keep this rating intact, and to continue to contribute positively to this forum. Thanks again, everyone!! Luv you all, Victor

Hi Victor.. As you know I have been missing in action for the better part of the last two months and I am delighted to back. I am finally caught up on responding to most of my older responses and rather than posting anything right away I chose to drop around to friends' sites and say "HI!" How good to come back one day after you achieved a big goal. C-O-N-G-R-A-T-U-L-A-T-O-N-S!. Kudos...applause...take a bow...I am whistling a happy tune for you!!!!!. Anyway, I think you get the message I am happy for you. I ALWAYS enjoy chatting with you and reading your insightful, well thought out discussions and responses. You've been a great on-line friend and I am glad you know what the rest of us always saw...you always were a blue star ten and now you have 'proof.' Good going and I know you won't have any difficulty in maintaining it either! Cheers, Raia

Hi there Raia, you have been noticeably absent for a while, so I am glad you can find some time to make your presence felt here again. Thank you for your big vote of confidence. Like I've said to Rhonda, I also owe it to you significantly for my achieving this rating. Your positive expressions in your posts often give me great encouragement, and makes me feel positive about interacting with you and others here. It is the value of friendships I've established here that keeps reminding me why this is a right place to be to build lasting cherished relationships one can hold dear to.

I had a blue star for quite awhile but either someone didn't like my responses or one of the trolls go to me and lowered my star to a 9 but that is ok because I like the color red so having a nice little red star next to my name is fine with me my earnings are great and that is what I worry about more then the star ratings.

Thank you for sharing. I hope things will be better for you over time. You are absolutely right..the star rating isn't everything. Actually it is not that important. To me, it is just a feel good thing that gives you some inspiration. What's important is how you post and share here, and whether this makes an impact on people and touch their lives. If I can achieve these things in my posting, I'd have earned satisfaction for myself, and that I feel is more pertinent and meaningful than anything else.

I am very happy that you have reached that rating. But I do want to say to you don't get discouraged if you lose it. There are people here that are very jealous and sensitive. All it takes is to respond to the wrong discussion, and you will have a troll following you around, rating all your discussions negatively and dropping your star. But please don't be discouraged because of this. Know its their problem, not your fault that this happens. Above all else, don't let it change your posting habits.

I wouldn't antagonize people on here, but at the same time I wouldn't edit what I have to say. I liked having a blue star when I had it, but I didn't want to keep it if it meant choosing between it and my integrity. I don't post derogatory statements about anyone, but at the same time, if I have an opinion about a certain topic, I will post it, no matter what people think. This site is a popularity contest, but I will not choose popularity over my opinion. If my star never gets back to a 10, I will not be sad. I will continue posting my opinions no matter what. I feel everyone should do the same, because that is what this site is truly supposed to be about.

It's certainly ok to express your own opinion about something even if it does not agree with someone else's, as long as things are expressed objectively and with politeness. No one can begrudge you if you can stand up to your own opinion, I feel.

Thank you for your well wishes and your encouragement. I will be mindful of what you have said. I'll try not to antagonize people and be objective about how I post. I'd like to think that I usually have been doing that, so I shall continue this practice. But even if my rating should drop a little, I will not cry over it...on the contrary, I will just try harder!

Yes, you must be doing well. You didn't have to post so much before hitting your 10 star rating, so great for you!! I just noticed something funny about my original post. It has an attached image that says "Yummy donuts". Had a good laugh at that. Actually I made a previous post about 10 minutes ago with this attached image. I think there's some glitch here at myLot in having this image tagged to this post here. Anyway, I guess it is ok to have yummy donuts to accompany my celebration of my 10 star rating.

Hello, Lexus54. Congratulations on your achievement! Having a 10 blue star is a great goal to have reached! I had one a while ago. But suddenly, it went back to nine. I guess that my posts are not that great. I need to get better in order to see my star increasing to what it was a month ago. One thing is for sure: I still have a lot to learn. Since it dropped, I am trying to be more careful with the words I use in here and try not to offend anybody. I'm sure you can keep your star for a very long time if you follow these basic rules. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Hello there. Yes, you are correct. I'm still unsure about the posts that gets deleted. I do not know if you lose ratings for this. However, I have to find out when is this star rating updated. One day, it will be 94/100. Then, after a few weeks, it will suddenly decrease to 87, like mine, instead of going the steps of 93, 92, 91, 90... It just disappears. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Hi there Munhozmib, I share your point about keeping the star rating by making some good posts and not offending anybody. Probably, one's reputation can decrease if members start rating you negatively or you start to get your posts deleted. I think the best policy is to be friendly with everyone here, avoid trouble, make interesting posts, provide good advice if possible and share experiences with others if you feel others can benefit from them. Hard to go wrong with this approach. That should help anyone maintain a good star rating. Thanks for your sharing, and all the best to you.

Thank you for your well wishes. Yes, I did read about some members wondering why their ratings have suddenly dropped overnight. I too don't know why for their case, and I feel kinda sad for them. I hope things will improve for them.

Hi there diansinta, thanks for dropping by this old thread and sharing your thoughts. I agree with you that we should respond to every respondent of our discussions, not just to get good star ratings or earnings. Firstly, it shows appreciation and secondly, it tells the person posting that you're happy to keep in touch not just in this post but in others as well. I see you are from Bali. I have not been to Bali for a holiday before, but would love to go there one day. I read in travel magazines and websites that Bali is a great vacation spot with its lovely beaches, just like Phuket.

Thank you for coming by my discussion to share your thoughts and also offering me your congratulations. I hope to see your ratings go up again. I don't know why some of you are having your ratings drop almost overnight. Some people blame it on some trolls lurking around and causing this. Whatever the case, just keep posting and contributing, and your rating will surely go up over time. Anyway, I don't attach much importance to this star rating thing. All the best to you.

Hi there Jesbellaine, thank you for your wishes. I see you are on 94/100 now. I am on 95/100 and I've noticed that those on 10 star have at least 95 rating or higher. So you are quite near to being promoted. Just keep posting and sharing to add value to this site, and myLot will reward you when members continue to give you positive ratings for your contribution. Write more, share more especially on interesting things, generate more follow-on discussions with your postings, don't quarrel or antagonize people, respect others' views....I think this is the way to go to improve your profile and rating here. All the best.

Thank you, my new found friend. That was a couple of months ago. It did take me a while and many posts before I got my 10-star rating. I was on 9 for quite a long time. Since you crossed your 100 posts recently, you just received a star. Keep posting to increase your exposure, and make some quality posts too, so that members can rate you positively and your star rating will improve over time.

Hi there nani, thanks for your sharing. Don't worry about the star rating. Everyone of us will have to start somewhere, and then work our way up. I didn't start at my current rating, and it took me nearly 1.5 years to get here. Just keep sharing and posting regularly, and also make some quality posts along the way. People will notice you, and rate you well if you make good posts or have interesting things to share. Then your reputation will increase over time. Just don't break the rules or quarrel with anyone, because that can hurt your reputation.

I just noticed that you have a rating of 8. When I had my first 100+ posts and got my star rating, it was only 7. So you are already better off than me. You will get to 10 one day, I know.

Hi there, myLot assigns each member a star rating when he/she reaches 100 posts, so you are a few posts from getting one. Your star rating denotes your reputation here, and can range from 1 to 10. The higher the number, the higher is your reputation. While your star rating probably won't affect your earnings, it may affect how people view you here. It is probably determined by multiple factors such as the quality of your posts, how members rate your postings (they can rate a + or - against each post you make), the best responses you get from members, etc. Your rating can go up or down over time. If members rate you negatively over some posts, your rating may just drop with such feedbacks.
