I love shopping at the dollar store! They never had these stores when I was a kid. It's such a treat for my daughter to go in there with a dollar, and be able to buy "herself" a toy. I think that it's kind of neat. But sometimes I get lectures from people saying that you shouldn't shop there because the products are made in foreign countries and that means I'm not supporting our country's economy. But if I'm shopping at the local store, doesn't that mean I'm supporting our local economy? Anyways, do you shop at the dollar store and why?

There are two dollar stores in my town. Dollare General and Family Dollar. I shop at both of them. The prices are so much better than the grocery stores and with the price of stuff so high it comes in handy. I say you are supporting our country look at it this way the store you are going into to buy somthing employees citizens from the united states if we did not buy things from the dollar store those people would be out of a job so you are helping to give someone a job and I say that suppoorts america!

Yes, I shop at the dollar stores, it saves money, and you can find some really good bargains. For those people that say you are not supporting our country's economy, next time tell them to check the 'made in' tag at the more expensive stores and then get back to ya. And yes, you are supporting the local economy anytime you shop there or anywhere else locally. By shopping there, you are putting money back into the economy, it pays the people that work there, the ones that work at distribution centers, which goes back into the economy when they pay their bills and buy consumer goods. As for the ones that say you shouldn't be shopping there, tell them that by doing so it helps provide jobs, and if they think they are supporting our country by shopping at walmart, kmart, etc. again, tell them check the 'made in' tags on the products they are buying.

I do, but not regularly and only for certain things--like candy or paper towels. I think there are products from foreign countries in most stores; I noticed that when I tried to avoid baby items made in China after all of the toy controversy. I hate the dollar stores that have items that cost more than a dollar in them; it's a let down to have to check prices at a dollar store.

We have a few dollar stores near me but I love going to the Dollar Tree one because it's huge. It even has frozen foods and dairy in there. I get a lot of things cheap and like you it's nice to be ablt to tell the kid go ahead. It's great especially since she's now a teen a wants makeup. She can get some nice ones there for just a buck. The only problem is I go in there and get a bunch of things thinking "Oh it's just a dollar" and before I know it I have twenty or thirty dollars worth of things . Of course I at least feel like I've gotten a lot for my money but it so easy to get stuff and not realize until you check out how much you actually have.

Almost everyday!!LO I work at Family Dollar., so I am there often. I enjoy saving maney and always find great deals whethter I am at one of our stores or Dollar General. I do not go to the Dollar tree. I have found I can actually get a better deal at Family Dollar or Dollar General. Unless a store specializes in "Made in the US' products, chances are they have lots of things that are made in other countries. We carry things made in China, Indonesia, Bangladesh, as well as lots of other countries. We also have lots of things that are made or at least packages in the US. When you go to my store and buy a gallon of milk, chips, a soft drink and a box of snack cakes, Every bit of it was manufactured in the US. You are helping me to earn a living, the company that delivers the products, the companies that service our store For example the floor guy here is from a near-by town. If we didn't have a lot of customers coming in and getting the floor dirty, he wouldn't come once a month to clean the floor.

I love shopping at the Dollar Tree, it's one of those stores where everything is a dollar. It's a great place to shop in my opinion. I've been able to find some really great teaching supplies there for a dollar which has saved me a lot of money when it comes to teaching the children in my class. And, I've been able to find some really great things there for a cheap price. Bird feeders, picture frames and food. If I can't find it at any other store, I probably can find it there for a great price.

I love dollar stores! We have a Dollar Tree and it's one of my favorite stores to shop at. I can get very reliable pens from there that last forever and write really well. I can find some art supplies too that I need for a quick project or want to twist to my own evil deeds. lol

I shop at the dollar store too. While many of the items at the dollar store are made in foreign countries so the items in every other store. the vast majority of toys at Target, Walmart, Kmart, Meijer, Toys R Us and and many other stores are made over seas. If anybody knows of a toy manufactor that makes toys in the US, PLEASE let me know because I can't find them in any store.

Yes I do. We have a Dollar Tree (where everything is $1.00) and the Dollar General. I shop both but I especially like the Dollar Tree and all those other $1.00 stores. Yes we are still supporting our local economy. Some people will complain about anything and everything.

You are supporting the people that work at those dollar stores right? We have quite a few really big Dollar Tree stores in our area. A couple of them are really nice and they have a good selection of stuff. I went in there last week and bought some craft supplies for the kids when they get out of school for the summer. I also bought some workbooks. I bought a couple of "wipe-off" ones that I am putting away for my 23 month old. The others are for my almost 7 year old daughter. She loves to play school and is always wanting new workbooks. Workbooks in other stores are $4 and up! I picked up quite a few to keep her busy.

The dollar store is great! My favorite is the DollarTree, because of the set amount you know the price of everything in the store. My ideal way to shop would be to hit the Dollartree first with my grocery list and then go to Walmart and pick up everything else that I couldn't find for $1. :)
