This is a statistic which cannot inspire pride in my city, but with the coming of warm weather it always seems inevitable. I am saddened by this news and I have to wonder what goes on in the minds of the people who are wreaking so much havoc upon my city. I am fully aware that drug trafficking plays a large role in the rise in crime, yet I continue to pray every year that things will be different. I think the fact that repelled me the most in the latest incident last night was a young man was gunned down while holding a baby in his arms! Have these people no sense of honor or shame? Evidently not. How do you cope when it seems that the world is going to He11 in a hand basket?

Well, when you look at things like this, you begin to wonder where did Respect and such go? And then the worst of it, is a lot of these people know they will never get caught, or find themselves getting into any type of trouble, so they do it never expecting any repercussions as well. The problem is where did they get these ideas, and where was their upbringing? Most of the time anymore too many kids are being raised by only one person, and since that person has to work, they are never taught Self Respect, Morals, etc. to where they have no help in society to where they will want to do more with their life. Personally, I can never understand how so many want to continue in these paths, and not want to become something more. All we can do is continue to hope and PRAY for a change somewhere, and somehow that the Violence etc. going on ceases some. But I feel it would take a Miracle we may never see.

I am inclined to agree that we may never see this miracle, KrauseHome, and it is so sad. The root of most of the world's evils is the lust after money.

How sad indeed. It makes one wonder how they look in the mirror each day, doesn't it? Pray for a change. Unfortunately evil will always be around in this world.

I have seen much evil in my lifetime, hockeygal, but I will never get used to it. It's crazy how history keeps repeating itself!

That is alot. I think people are thinking that shooting is the way to solve problems. That seems to be what you see if you turn on the tv or video games.

This is why I moved out of the city, World, after I started my family, I was in fear of my children's safety..I still do have other family members there, so I do what you do and that is to pray..I didn't hear about the man with the baby in his arms, then again I don't watch much news, though I did happen to listen a little yesterday morning..Did this happen yesterday afternoon?

I'm pretty sure it happened early on Friday night, carmelinarel. There was supposedly a cook-out in progress when this happened. Like you I have also curtailed my watching of the news as it is usually so disheartening.

I know where you're coming from. Since the beginning of the year there have been six shootings. I knew all but two of the people in some way. My nephew was one of them. He is a good kid and was shot by accident. Its terrible. WHat is worse is that all of them were under 20. I am so scared every time my daughters leaves the house. I just try to make every minute count. Its all we can do. Best wishes. dl

As someone who has seen part of one generation lost to violence, dloveli, I feel so helpless when I see it happening all over again!

watching, hearing and witnessing this unusual crimes is quit scary. as we observe nowadays there's a rampant crimes happen even in a peaceful place. people are no longer polite and kind. they are prone to become criminals because of poverty.
