I do not know about the rest of you, but I am fed up with the fuel prices and all the excuses for why they are so high. It is not OPEC either. Most of it is our own people gouging us in the stock market so that they can pay their stock holders the big fat premiums, and so they can line their own pockets. No money goes back into the business for repairs, safety, or upgrades. That isn't what I wanted to say though. Do you know who owns CITGO? Chavez of Venezuela owns it, and he is allowing Iranian workers to operate it for him. However, now that many Americans have found out that Chavez is doing this he is changing the names of his CITGO stations to PETRO EXPRESS. I do not know what your feelings are about this man and this subject, but for those of you who have strong feelings, you now have some new information and can avoid these stations if you are so inclined. The information on this is available in the Venezualian papers and it was in the Brazilian press. I have not seen it in the American press yet, but then I do not read our papers much. There was also a quick mention in the BBC news a couple of days ago about the name change. Shalom~Adoniah

AND, here in NYC there is a tv commercial starring Joe Kennedy saying that the "good people of Venezuela" will give heating oil to anybody who is in need for a discounted price. Then they show minority people saying that they were freezing in their homes until they got this fuel. They are all saying "thank you" and then Kennedy gives a phone number like 1-800-ASK4JOE. It's sickening but if you were a poor person living in the northeast and you and your family were freezng because you couldn't afford to buy oil for your burner, it would be very tempting. I agree with you Adoniah. The only way to show your solidarity is to boycott products like this!

Very good! If I remember correctly, a year or so ago Chevez offered free oil to the indigent peoples of Alaska or someplace up north and they turned him down. I thought that was pretty guttsy. More power to them. Shalom~Adoniah

Hello Adoniah, Geesh, I just remembered that I owe you a P.M. Sorry about that oversight -- and thanks for the reminder. It's nice to see you on the forum. Oh, and a great big 'ata girl', for the terrific sleuthing. I tend to monitor the oil industry fairly closely, yet I hadn't heard a peep about Citgo changing its name. OK, so Petro Express is definitely one to personally blacklist. Let Chavez choke on his oil, as we effort ourselves toward shale & sand oil extraction in the Rockie Mountains!!!

It is hard to find out info if it is not broadcast in a language that you speak or read. I have to spend a lot of time relying on my foreign friends for their translating abilities and my own limited abilities. It is time for the world to pick an oil company and boycott it for one month world wide. If we did this, we would bring the oil companies to their knees, and they would have to stop ripping us off and start acting like responsible businessmen. All it would take is one company a month and we would win control. Then they would have to start looking for alternative sources in a serious manner and upgrading what they have and making the working conditions safer for their employees. Shalom~Adoniah
