Our place is really convenient, in terms of transportation, and stores. We live only a few steps from a “wet market” and just one tricycle ride or about 10 minutes walk is the nearest grocery store.

Hi there Sunkissed, Pretty much like you I live in a small town. We have what we need as far as grocery stores and gas stations, banks, all with in walking distance from my home. Wal-mart is a drive of about 4 miles no biggy. What we do not have are things like a bowling center, movie theater, skate park for the kids, anything of entertainment. It's frustrating that we have to drive 25 miles to enjoy anything like that.

The nearest store to me is pretty much just down the road a little ways. I would say it's probably a little less than a mile away. It is really nice because the street that we actually live on is a nice little quiet residential street, but then there is all the shopping we need just around the corner on the next street. I often walk to the store when the weather is nice and I know I won't be getting too many items. It is a nice way to get a little bit of extra exercise and save on gas a little too! :)

I have a very convient Spar store just down the road for me, bout 5 mins walk. I try not to shop much from there as it is expensive but its ok for essential such as bread and milk. There is another Spar store 15 mins to the right of my house. I try to shop from the store I work in as its cheap. It takes 15 mins on the bus. There are various other grocery stores nearby.

I have a grocery store that is two blocks away from me. Then there is a dollar general store that is about four blocks away from me. It is really nice to have stores that are close by. I really like it.

In the building that I live the first floor is all retail, and the floors up from there are all residential. So I just have to go down from the 6th floor to the first floor to get to the store. Or to get to the dentist, or the masseuse, or the salon. LOL it is very convinient. Especially on days when I dont want to cook, there is a restauraunt and I can go down the elevator to pick it up, or if I am relaly lazy they will deliver.

My nearest shops to me are just a five minute walk up the road and it is heaven!! 3 years ago, I lived over a mile out of town and it was horrible, I do not drive and so I had to walk wherever I wanted to go. My children went to school and we had to walk, well when they first started I had one in full time school and then one on half days and so I had to walk down to school with the first one in a morning, then come back home, walk back down to school at dinnertime with the second one and then come back home and then go down again for both of them at the end of school to pick them both back up again and then come back home!! It was about a 25 minute walk each time I did it. When we moved it was bliss, I am now only 10 minutes away from school and 5 from town that is definately the best thing about where I live now.

We live on a farm - we have a small (around 10 houses) town 2km down the road which has a general store & a pub (hotel/motel). The pub is fantastic & people come from all around to go to it. The general store has most things you need but is way too expensive. The closest shopping centre & decent sized town is 45km away (25 min drive) and if you really need to shop for clothes etc you have to drive 120-150km. We love living on the farm & wouldn't live in a town ever.
