Good Evening all mylot friends and members. I am writing to let you all know the news of my neighborhood. Early this morning, around 5am central time, on the street away from us 8 houses were robbed! We have a friend who lives the next block over and this morning my hubby called him to see what was up (football draft day) and he was told about the robberies. Our friends daughter has an xbox and it was stolen from HER ROOM!!! She was not in the room, she was at a friends house for the night, thank God. Now we are trying to figure out how in the heck did they hit 8 houses in one area! The police were all over today. Hubby was stopped about 30 minutes ago by the police when he went to the corner store to get our dog some dog food. It's been raining this weekend, so I didn't get to the grocery and he is out of food. Anyway, the cop told him about the robberies and hubby told him he knew about them because of his friend, and told the cop about what happened here last Sunday. The cop told him anything happens around here to call them immediately. We have our daughter's bedroom door open so we can hear anything from the back. Hubby is very suspicious now because of the door knocking that happened Wednesday and I am nervous to leave home now. I am not letting it stop me from leaving, just wish I had a guard dog now. Our dog is 14 yrs old and barking isn't his thing now. lol Is there anywhere that is safe to live? I found a house on the block that was robbed! I am not sure of it now. lol What to do, what to do! lol What the heck is happening to this neighboorhood?

This spate of robberies sounds like a gang to me. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a load of kids just trying to grab some quick money. I really don't think anywhere is safe nowadays. Even if you have a guard dog people still come prepared - like give them doped meat. If they are determined to come into your house there is really nothing you can do about it. We can prevent it up to a point but after that, well anything goes. The main thing is that nobody got hurt. Things you can replace (even though it is a pain and money is short) but your lives are far more important than material objects. I am glad you are safe and do keep your ears open. If you hear anything suspiscious just call the police, don't worry if it is nothing, it could be and I would rather you and your family were safe than sorry. Please be careful icy, there are some weird people out there. Take care honey and thanks for sharing this with us.

Hi angel, The police what them bad. Don't know how many, but we found out they hit both sides of the highway. So they got a lot of stuff, just don't know how they got the stuff and what they used to get away in. I am telling you I think that knock and disappear the other day had something to do with that. I know it, just can't proove it. lol We are being very careful. I was shown how to swing the bat we have to protect myself. I've never played baseball, but I know how to swing to do harm now. lol

Good on ya girl, you just swing if you feel you need to don't worry who is at the other end.... I have been taught to swing that bat too, just in case I'm on my own or the BF has been overwhelmed. I am not afraid of using it to protect me and mine. I KNOW you are the same. Always be careful, please. XX

It isn't just your neighborhood, although you have had your share of problems lately.. It is quite a few neighborhoods.. I remember when I got scared one night when my husband was working night shift, (I was a young newlywed and was afraid to go to sleep in the house by myself), I got all of my posts and pans out and placed them underneath all of my windows and entrances.. This was a bit funny as I did grow up and out of being scared to be by myself but has stuck with me.. If anyone had came into my apartment at that time, the noise of the pots and pans banging togehter would have scared them off and woke me up.. Might just work now, I believe I would put them in front of any windows in a childs room.. Or do we have criminally minded persons getting ready to tell me why this would not work, lol.. Take care and stay safe..

Hi Donna, Thanks but we don't have windows big enough for someone to fit through at least I wouldn't think they'd fit though anyway. lol We have our daughter's TV on and it is loud enough for us to hear it, so if it is all of a sudden quite back there, we know something is up. I think that was a good idea of your's though. You are right, they would get scared and run and it would wake you up :)

That is awful. If you do leave the house make sure you lock up properly, closing and locking the windows, putting the alarm on and locking the door. If it is at night, close the curtains but put the light on so it looks as though someone is in. If it is during the day, leave the TV on or something. That can deter burglars, because many don't want to harm people.
