I didn't expect to see you!

I was sitting here earlier this morning sorting out my E mails when the door bell rang. I thought that it was the postman come to deliver my lottery win. Well, £2 million is quite a lot to put through the letterbox. But no! To my delight it was an old work colleague who was in the area and decided to pop in for a hello. I left my old job due to illness and I have rather shoved the whole affair away to the back of my mind. But here was a blast from my past sitting on my couch telling me what has been going on since I left. I don't much care about the happenings, but I thought that it was just such a lovely thing to do. She couldn't stay long but I am glowing in the fact that I am still remembered. In fact I have been invited to a private party of former colleagues at the end of May. They miss me apparently. Heaven know's why. Has anybody ever turned up on your doorstep that you haven't seen for a while?

I have not had that happen in a long time. But they do call sometime which is good enough. I do not like surprise guess unless I have just finished cleaning my house from top to bottom. Sometimes it even bothers me when they call. There are some people that I feel that the friendship does not last past the parting stage. When they call me on the phone, we don't have anything in common any more. So we just kind of sit there and hold the phone while I try desperately to come up with a convincing accuse to get off the phone. When I was younger, I use to just hang up or pull the phone cord out of the wall. I am a little more civil these days.

Come just to see me? Ha, you have never met my aunt Sarah. If she comes over and finds my house a mess, she will talk about me like I have four legs and a tail, to my face. Then she'll tell everyone else she knows. She loves to call people lazy.

LOL. I worried about the house. Although it was looking surprisingly good! They come to see you, not your house. So they have to take you as they find you I think. Thank you Rozie. Take care.

Yes, a while ago we were having a family party and my husband (then boyfriend) was there. For some reason, my ex-fiance' took that day to stop by to give me some money that he owed me. Mike was so mad at first, because he thought I had invited him. The whole family was mad that he showed up, because none of them liked him. It was a mess. I don't even remember what it was we were celebrating that the whole family was over for. I still don't understand to this day why people don't call first.

PS - I envy you that someone from one of your jobs cared enough to stop by to say hello, and that you were invited to another event. I haven't kept in touch with too many of my previous coworkers, and those that I do keep in touch with, it's usually just through e-mail.

He did after he showed up. I told him, and asked him politely to leave. It was embarrassing, yes.

That must have been embarrassing. Did he know that it was a family party? I was very touched that I have been remembered.

A longtime back when I was at work at the local library i came home to find my best friend from high school waiting at my home with my husband.I had not seen her for years and we had such a good talk as she told me all about my old home town and all the people that I had grown up with.I hated to see her leave. it was a wondrful treat.

That was a pleasant suprise Piky...its good to know that they havent forgotten you!!....well at the moment I cant think of anyone that i havent seen..that i would really want to see...turn up on my doorstep!!...some of the people i worked with are still in touch...and lol after seeing everyone their was to see from my hubbys place of employment during his spell of ongoing ill health..that led to his early retirement...i dont really want to see anyone at the mo!!! When we were recently in Wilts we saw quite a few that we hadnt seen for a good while..and thats good..i enjoyed to catch up on the local gossip...but no..apart from that..im just happy enough to have a bit of peace at the moment.

I like to catch up occasionally Ruby. This visit was such a surprise though. Curiously, of all the people that might have turned up, this lady wasn't the one that I would have imagined. I was still in the P1ke jimmy jams too! A quick change and I was less "arrestable". LOL. Enjoy your peace.

There was a time when my best friend "disappeared" for about a year unexpectedly. He'd disappeared for a few days at a time previously but never for so long. Then, after I'd had my youngest child and moved house, he randomly knocked on the door. It was only by coincidence that I happened to be at home! Other than that, I've not had anybody turn up unexpectedly.

You were pleased to see him though. I have not had it happen too often. Although I was once fiddling with my car and getting irritated because some was whistling at me. It was only when I finally extricated myself that I found that it was the estranged husband of a friend. He and we had been good friends for years and we were a little sad that when the marriage broke up he chose to move to the other side of the country. But he had popped back for some reason and called on us.

Of course I was pleased to see him. I'd missed him for a year and I'd wanted to tell him about my new little person! Usually if people randomly contact me, it is through some sort of complicated technology which I forget about!

lol..yes...a couple of times...when my home was in the least presentable state! I left my last job when I was expecting my second child .....and my neighbour was the person who replaced me. So, I would get to know what was happening....but I wasn't warned before the head decided to stop by....and say 'hello'! It was just one of those days when I was too tired and wanted to put my feet up...and do nothing! And here she comes...though she was kind enough not to mention the mess...I was very embarassed and hardly heard anything she said.

Not on my door step because everyone knows they have to make it past the rottweiler that would sooner eat you then let you gain access to his domain but just yesterday I ran into a girl I went to grade school with that I hadn't seen in 18 years! I wonder if she remembers that I smacked her face off of a sink in the bathroom and kicked her rear end at a basketball game for putting bubble gum in my hair. Probably not, or I can't imagine why she would have wanted to say hello.

If I didn't actually know that underneath that tough girl exterior is one of the nicest people on the planet I'd think "give her a wide berth". All that I can really do now is stick my tongue out at you. But as I don't use those measley things you'll just have to imagine it. So there! "Nice doggy. Leave P1ke's fins alone."

My soon to be ex has five ex wives. Two of them legal, three of them commonlaw. One day three of them (a mixed group) showed up on my doorstep one morning. Apparently they were friends - and having lived in the same town most of their lives, it was no surprise. They were canvassing for something, I can't remember what because all I really remember is the look on their collective face when I gave them my name and my husbands. Oh my! I can still see it! LOL And yes, I know - I should have taken that knowledge of the former "mrs's" and run the other way before I got married, but he had only told me about the two legal ones, and at our ages, it didn't seem such a big deal. I'm an idiot, I realize that now, but the three I met would be more than happy to have me join their little circle of 'survivors of (insert hubby's name)" LOL

She did not turn up on my doorstep but I ran into her while doing some grocery shopping at Vons. She used to work where I did, and I never knew if she liked or disliked me really but I know this now. she did recognize me but she made a quick beeline to another 'cash register evidently so she did not have to talk to me.she used to be second in command at the library where I worked then quit because of health reasons.she seemed friendly enough most of the time..

She may have been self conscious about the reasons that she left. If I saw you at make a beeline to be beside you. Then you'd have to make a quick getaway yourself. LOL

I had a friend once who was flakey and I didn't expect to see or hear from her again since she went to school in Holland (where she originally was from) and one day she just suddenly showed up. It was strange but at least it was nice to know I wasn't just "forgotten". That must have made you feel really good.

How lovely and of course they remember and miss you , you silly sod - how could anyone not miss you! I had a friend I hadn't seen in 3 years pop into my house just before Christmas and it was so nice to see her! She had gotten remarried and moved into the country with her new hubby who was a piece of work, you know the type he alienated her from her friends, was highly controlling and jealous and she wouldn't listen to anyone who tried to tell her - she came to tell me that she had finally flung him out and was getting a divorce - it is great to hear from her a lot more often again and she is back to the bubbly, giggly woman she used to be! xxx
