how do you say "i quit" without being too arrogant?

i have a band, and they suck. badly... i want to quit but i cant since this band is my friend's band and i would feel bad if i quit. and also my friend's father is my father's friend... so ho do i tell them that i quit without hurting their feelings?

I would just explain to them that you feel that it isn't working out very well. Just be honest with them no one likes a lier.

i'd rather lie than telling them the truth, since she's a good friend of mine and right now she's in big trouble, if i tell her that now she'll prolly gonna freak out. which is bad. obviously. also my father's friend basically has this gig for us, which i have no interest in the first place (he forced me to do it), and i just dont want to do it. but he kept forcing me to. so telling them the truth just wouldnt work...

You say you cant be there anymore for X problem, but is they´re your friends why don't you try to do more practice before you quit.

you want to be honest, but don't say that you think the band sucks. Say something else that is true. For example if you want to quit you probably don't enjoy playing in it much. Tell them your not really liking playing in the band anymore or something. Also remember to drop a good luck with the band at the end of the conversation. Good luck, its a hard thing to say.
