Would you cancel a much needed operation - because you were scared?

Would you cancel an op because you were scared? Have you done this or have your senses told you it's for the best and you've gone ahead with it anyway? What were your reasons for being scared - were they justified? I'd like to hear your thoughts on this!

I've never had a proper op, but I think it would depend on the options and the seriousness of the illness. If there were some way I could opt out of surgery and find an alternative cure, I would. I rarely visit my doctor and I'm not at all keen on hospitals, so I would seek every option. I think everybody is a little scared of operations and being sedated but if it came to the real crunch, I would meditate and prepare myself, and go have it done, for all my loved ones' sakes, if not my own. I'm not finished my work on this Earth yet!

Thank you darkwing, I feel that mine isn't done yet either and I will find what i'm looking for! I wouldn't cancel the operation I'm due, it's just that two ops in a year is daunting, i've only really just got over the last one and the thought of up to a week in hospital just isn't appetising me one bit!

I'm not worried about dying, that's out of my hands, it's the pain afterwards that bothers me. Thanks for your response.
