I'm thinkig of buying a computer and can't decide if to get the XP or the Vista version. And if Vista which of the three(home, business, express) is better? I'm getting a Vaio laptop by the way.

Hi. I have used both windows XP and windows vista and can tell you with out any doubt that the XP is the better one. With vista you will surely be looking to help you in something or other time and again. so, just go for XP.

With Xp Pro you have the advantage of having fewer teething problems than Vista. I'd suggest that if you do want to get Vista, make sure that you take care when installing programs, to ensure they do carry support for Vista or whether they need different drivers etc.

I have XP, my husband has Vista. We really don't like Vista, it is not compatable with many of the programs he uses, and to upgrade those programs it costs a lot of money. Also a friend of mine had Vista and went and exchanged the computer because she hated it that much! Unfortunatly at this time, at least in my area, it is near impossible to purchase a new computer that doesn't have Vista, which is why my husband got stuck with it.

In my view you should go for Vista only if you have some extra bucks to spend. Windows Vista requires good hardware to run smoothly. But windows vista didn't enjoyed that much success. But if you want value for money then go for Windows XP - the best operating system by microsoft. Windows Vista Comes in many editions. If you use it at home then home is better and if you use it for your job ultimate is the way to go.

Vista Would Be Very Nice If You Have a Very High Configuration System like 4MB RAM And About 120 or 160 GB Hard drive .If you Are A home Worker like you do all Things to be equally managed then get Vista Home.If You Are A business Man Then Get Vista Business and Vista Express is Good For Presenting You Forgot To Mention One More Vista GAMERS! It Is For EXPERT Gamers . XP Would Be OK If you Have A Low Configured System Like 512MB OR 1GB . Its Your Wish Select One :D!!.

Go for XP. At least in xp all major gliches were already fixed or patched up so to speak. In vista you're in a new territory, add to that since there are lots of variation like home, ultimate, business etc then expect that solutions would come in late unlike in xp there's only two, home and professional.

i will suggest u to go for windows XP. I have used vista it is painfully slow. I heard microsoft is coming with the patch for vista, hope this will improve the performance of vista. and there lot more softwares which are still not microsoft vista compatible. And also the version of vista matter Home basics edition is really very slow. But the professional addition is better. My friend has professional edition and even his ram and processor is old it works nicely on his system. @ Sony vaio, its really a good choice. I was planning buy one but my budget didnt allow me. In weight, battery life and looks wise its really good.

To be honest I really don't see a difference between the both. I really just use the computer to get online so I don't do a lot of other stuff with it. Maybe if you do more than just get online there's a difference but I can't tell.

hmmm its better to get windows vista, this newer operating systems have a much higher security policy compared to windows xp. you can get the ultimate edition of windows vista, just like i've said it has a higher type of security but you have to check on the specifications of your computer before you use this operating system cause it requires a biut higher computer specifications. I think its also expensive than the other editions of vista.
