Interstate traffic jams

I had to drive to Connecticut this morning to drop off my computer. Going west bound on the way back to NY there was road construction (I know surprise!). I was in the lane that was staying open so just continued on my way.
I noticed most of the people started merging into the lane that was staying open early on. And as we approached the end of the 2 lane interstate...the lane that was closing was really flying until they go to the closed part where no one would let them in.
I myself received the finger from a man that was probably approaching 70.
Now my feeling is that if he had merge like a good road citizen back when 95% of the people did, he would have been way back several miles but he pushed it figuring to take advantage of the more courteous drivers who pulled over.
What kind of driver are you - when you see the lane ending sign do you pull over as soon as you can or do you try and push to the head of the line? Do you let the people who 'jumped' to the head of the line cut in a head of you?

I am not a driver, but I know I cannot stand people who push in line an a cue anywhere, waiting for a bus, or what have you. It is rude as far as I am concerned. go to the back of the line and wait your turn like everyone else had to do.

remember fried green tomatoes, by did she get her back, rammed into their car and said she was older and had more insurance, I just loved that.

Oh, this is a pet peeve of mine. Those speeders who zoom up ahead and then some nice driver always lets them in. I am way too correct about all this - the sign says merge, I merge - I don't see how far I can go, I don't ride the berm to the next exit, I just do what we are told. And he had the nerve to give you the finger - honestly, I would have truly felt like ramming him - don't you wish you could put one of thse big cowcatcher things on the front of your car sometimes and just let them have it!

Aren't the roads from NY to Connecticut always under construction? The only time I have been there it seemed the whole state was.As far as lanes closing, I will get over just as soon as I see it happening, hubby kind of pushes it to midway. I do not automatically let the losers in who are at the head of the line trying to cut in. On occasion I will take pity on someone and let them over, like a mom with a car full of kids, because maybe they distracted her and
she did not notice the lane closing signs
. I guess I go case by case in these circumstances.

I move as soon as i see the sign...I hate for people to merge ahead so they can get in front of everybody else...It makes me not wanting to let them in...I am a respectful driver and i like to be around respectful drivers..I think it is so tacky to give people the finger..I can gladly say that i have never been guilty of that...Some people actually stick out their tongue,acting like children..Lol
