Are you a zit picker or popper?

zits - oh the popping pleasure!

I have a very bad habit, and pick at my face all the time. Like most of the women I know in real life, I love to pop zits. I've made quite the mess of my face by digging and scraping when I know I shouldn't, but it's an addictive compulsion. I used to beg my husband to pop zits on his back. He HATED that, but would often comply. We're now divorced, but I know that was one of the minor issues in the breakdown of our relationship. And because of that, I don't "go there" with other men I'm involved with. I think it's more of a "woman thing"; this popping zits desire. But am I wrong? Tell me... are you a zit picker or popper or not?

I had just finished my breakfast when this "popped" up. Eeugh it's so gross - but I love it. I don't get to many now, or ever actually, so I guess that's why I like it. Makes me blemish free. Now, what are we going to do about that major blemish on my shoulders?

I am a popper but I do not dig at them compulsively as you say. I simply can not stand a puss-filled zit just sitting there on my face. I pop and cleanse then apply tea-tree oil to the zit. My sister is a compulsive popper and she doesn't even have bad skin. I swear it would not surprise me to learn that she walked up to a complete stranger and popped a zit on their neck. ........ you'd have to know my sister. She's nuts.

I am quite lucky that I don't really get zits, even when I was a teen I never really have them that much. I am glad I don't have that compulsion even if I had the zits because it can scar pretty bad. So far my kids are not poppers or pickers either, even though my daughter doe have quite a few.

I was back in my teenage days - until my doctor told me to leave my darn freckles alone before I scarred myself. Who knew? LOL

It perfectly normal u have this tendency. In fact not only u,but everybody. We achieve a great deal of satisfaction by being able to clear the zits at least temporarily. The bad news is it might leave a marks for life to remind us. If u cannot help yourself, why not use a blackhead remover tool?Dun think that it is use to remove blackhead only,it can also be used for matured zits. With tool or not,u still need to sterilise it.Then use it on your face after you steam ur face or after a hot shower. The heat will loosen the zits content to make it easier to come out.

Not even close to a popper it hurts and just doesn't feel good. I add neautrogena on the spot creme and it is usually gone in a couple of days. popping makes them worse and can cause more to come which is why i make sure not to touch them or pop them. Cass

I am a woman. I've never picked or popped my zits, no matter how inconveniently located. I just feel like it's pointless, and it tends to make them worse anyway. I rarely get them, and it's usually only one or two, so I just ignore them and they go away in a couple of days. I suppose I'm just secure in my zits, lol!

I totally understand your habit as I am a popper and picker as well. I have to wait for my pimples to get to a certain size then I'm all over them squeezing and then popping then after they've scabbed, I will pick them as well. I don't like to pop other people's pimples though but I do love plucking lol. My hubby has a goatee full of krinkly hairs which I am obsessed with picking. Depending on his mood, he will or will not permit me to do so. If he's in a good mood I"ll ask him and he will say go ahead and I can sit there for hours pulling out the krinkles. If he's in a crappy mood he won't let me and I'll sulk then eventually get my way but he won't be tolerant for that long.

i cannot seem to leave them alone either but only on MY face and then i regret it because it leaves a mark and takes twice as long to disappear. but it is like a compulsion sometimes.

YES!!! I am guilty for this! I have this habit of running my hand all over my face, and if I find any rough bumps (zits, scars, moles, blackhead, whitehead) my fingers will automatically try to scrape it off my face. I have no control over it, I swear :P I don't usually dig/pick/pop the big swollen bump. usually I scrape the smaller rough bumps on my face. I will usually stop when I see blood on my finger. Oops! I am not an aggressive pimple popper. I pop my own, not others. But I do have the tendency to get a nice pair of tweezers and get rid of people's blackheads that are obviously manifesting their nose. Haha... But my sister is an aggressive popper. Usually she'll leave some bad scars on my face trying to 'get rid of them' (zits, blackheads) and my nose will usually be red and sore (and sometimes my skin is badly irritated it will scar after a few days with constant exposure to air and water. ouch) I used to think that I have a zit on my back. I made a few attempts to get rid of it by scraping it with my fingernail. And I always bleed. I didn't know why the zit won't disappear and will sit on the exact same place everytime I feel it is there, until one day I saw it. It was actually a mole. lol :P

..;chuckles;.. im sorry to laugh.. but i highly doubt the fact you were clearing the skin up on yer husbands back led to the demise of yer marriage. if that was one of his reasonings? yer prolly better off without em ..;nods;.. medically speaking.. popping a pimple when its come to a head, clears it up faster and removes the infection, and as long as you dont go ballistic tearing at all the skin around it, it doesnt leave any scarring. just a gentle lil squeeze when theyre ready does the trick followed by a dab of witch hazel, and voila.. gone. im obsessive about my skin.. and thankfully very rarely get any acne at all. but when i do happen to get the errant blemish, i follow the above, and they vanish quickly and leave no tell-tale marks behind.

Hi CanadaGal, I am guilty of this! I rarely get zits or pimples but when I do they sometimes bug me to the point where I take a needle if they can't pop and try to poke it open and get the white head out (this is usually before they are ready to pop easily) I'm am so lucky, it doesn't leave any marks on my face...whew! But when my dad sees me picking one or sees that I have picked one he gets on my case and asks me if I want my face to get like my mum's face got. She used to get tons though! But I'm happy that he "reminds" me...lol. I know but I am just stubborn! As for the boyfriend, wow he has alot of those on his back too and you know, he loves when i take his white heads out for him and his comes out so easily too! Plus, I like doing it...

I can understand why you pick yopur zits. You get immense pleasure in picking it. At least it give you the satisfaction of being able to clear the zits and make your skin smooth temporarily. But it will come back to haunt you for the rest of your life in the form of scars. Well,I am like you cannot help it...just have to pick it subconsciously. I know we not suppose to pick it as we introduce more P.acnes bacteria into the spot. I think have to tie my hand up so to stop this bad habit of mine.

Yes, I am a zit picker the obsession with me is that once the zit is popped it doesn't look so bad on my face. I found a good cleanser for my skin, it cleared up pretty good.
