Ramen Noodles - Cheap and Easy

For those people who already like Ramen noodles, and realize it's a frugal meal, do you have ideas to add zing to your noodles? For those people who want a quick, cheap and easy meal, try Ramen. We buy Ramen Noodles for 13cents a package. It takes a total of 5 minutes for Ramen to cook in the microwave. I add mushrooms or left over vegetables to the noodles, or anything else I might have that goes with noodles. It's a quick, easy and very inexpensive way to prepare and eat dinner. Two packages of Ramen Noodles at 13cents a package, eaten with french bread or crackers, whether you add anything to it or not, is pretty cheap eating. You'll be surprised how filling it is too.

Here's a couple of recipes I've made for parties and everyone likes. Oriental Cole Slaw 1 pkg. pre-shredded cole slaw mix 3/4 c. chopped green onions 1 pkg. Ramen noodles, not cooked 1/2 c. slivered almonds 2 tbsp. sesame seeds 3 tbsp. vinegar 2 tbsp. sugar 1/2 c. oil Dissolve 2 tablespoons sugar with 3 tablespoons vinegar. Add 1/2 cup oil and flavor packet from Ramen noodles. Set aside. Toast 1/2 cup slivered almonds. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sesame seeds at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Mix almond mixture with cole slaw and onions. Break up package of Ramen noodles. Add to salad. Before serving, add dressing and toss. Ramen Omelette 2 eggs 1 pack ramen 1 green onion, chopped 2 tsp. oil Cook ramen as normal, but drain well. Beat eggs together, add onion and season packet. Mix eggs into noodles. Add oil to pan over medium heat. Drop egg/ramen mixture into pan (make sure to spread it out evenly). Cook and flip.

Yes, they taste good and are CHEAP and filling. My boyfriend and I eat them all the time. I like to add corn and broccoli to mine for extra nutrients since they don't have much on their own. Sometiems I will add soem garlic powder or fresh garlic to it as well. Once in awhile I will add in some brown rice.

I have a recipe I use quite often that has ramen noodles in it. It is inexpensive and very filling. You take pork/chicken/beef and cut it in small strips stirfry it till mostly done (this is going to cook longer) break up your ramen noodles (2 packs of oriental flavor) and add to pot take seasoning packs and mix with 3 tbls of soy sauce and 1/2 cup water add to pot add 1 package of any frozen veggie you like (I use broccoli or a stirfry mix)stir together cook till meat and noodles and veggies are done and eat it up.

My kids and my husband like the beef flavored ramon noodles and my kids will eat the chicken flavored ones but I have never really card for them there is not much of a taste to them for me. Maybe if I try adding something to them like some vegetables or some kind of meat or something then maybe I could bring myself to like them.

That's one of the reasons I started adding things to the dish - to bring in more flavor. The price is what keeps me coming back to ramen noodles. Cheap eating.

I used to eat them all the time now I am kind of sick of them. we still occasionally buy them because they are so cheap. My favorite flavor is the chicken kind. Although we probably won't be eating them too often anymore with summer coming.

oh, i love ramen noodles as well. although people do tell me it's not healthy eating in the long run (what with the MSG and all) but when u think about the fact that its healthier than eating a pizza or something else thats really greasy, ramen noodles seem relatively better! not to mention they're cheaper too. i eat them plain r add some veggies (whatever i have) and that changes the taste a bit.

They also have a lot of salt, but, we can cut back on salt on other items. For the price I don't think it can be beat. Like you said, better than eating a pizza or something worse. Thanks ejaji

I buy Ramen noodles monthly. They are a staple I wouldn't want to be without. They are good, filling, easy to prepare andas you stated and a cheap meal. With the prices going up the way they are you it is great that they are still affordable. We add hamburger to ours sometimes frozen vegetables. And when I a child hollers I'm hungry they are done in a flash.

I love Ramen Noodles. The only things is that you have to be careful with the sodium in these delicious noodles. I fell in love with them, until my feet started to swell up. So be careful not to have it too often. I did not get high blood pressure, but I came pretty close.

Do agree with your opinion. Overdone is worse than undone. Ramen Noodles is delicious, but we should not eat too much.

I like to eat ramen noodles. Sometimes I cook them and then drain the water add an egg to them and the seasoning. You have to eat it whiles its hot b/c it taste better. I like to eat just the noodles uncooked by themself and save the seasoning when we have extra noodles from spaghetti I just throw the seasoning packet in them but I didn't know they had MSG in it. Isn't that suppose to be bad for you?

I used to eat a lot of Ramen Noodles, terilee, and I really enjoyed them. Now I only will eat them occasionally, but I've seen some very creative ways of making them. I've heard they are a favorite among prison inmates who add other ingredients to them and make what they call "breaks."

Ooh, I found your posting just from finding an worldwise1 friend posting on here. :o) Nostalgia and familiar! My family has gotten crates of Raomen since, must be before I was born even, so decades! I actaully don't have them now, but my family does (I have medical restrictions). But they were always so fun to make and so easy. We have them often even once a day. But I know my family tries to use the packaged seasong very sparsely, as that isn't good for you. but always of course add lots of things mostly vegetables, sometimes some meat, even curry sometimes. Or soup or broth. Different ways all the time. :o)

My husband and I both love them. He likes the shrimp (gross)flavored and the oriental flavored. I on the other hand love the chicken picante flavored. We never add anything to them. I honestly never thought of adding anything to them. I might have to think about that in the future.

I agree with you. It's easy to prepare and good for quick meal fix. I like them too and they are my comfort food. To make a variation and to spice it up, I would like to add left-over chicken bits and chopped veggies like cabbage, carrots, celery and onions with it. It become a whole new meal to me.

Ramen is good if you add some green onions and meat. I also like raiyu (chili sesame oil) and white pepper on mine. It is particularly good if you have a cold and can't taste anything. Add lots of spice. It is very soothing to your throat and has a hint of flavor that breaks through.

My daughter learned a great recipe from her Girl Scout Leader. She stir fries many different vegetables. And then adds the Ramen noodles in. She adds enough water to soften the noodles. She avoids over cooking so the vegetables are crisp. I have tried it and it tastes wonderful.

We love ramen noodles!!!! A couple of weeks ago I found the Nissan big containers on sale for 10/$10. I have 50 cents off 2 coupons. Well, Kroger doubled the 50c which made the big cups 50 cents each! I'm talking a meal for 2! It had peas, corn, etc in it. I added some left over roast beef and topped with shredded cheese. It was delicious! So we can add a few frozen veggies or fresh veggies to the ramen noodles and meat, if you want, and top with cheese!

YOu know, when I make ramen, I leave the seasoning packet out, add some broth, crushed garlic, powdered ginger, soy sauce, veggies, and a can of black eyed peas. VERY tasty, and you can omit all the MSG!

I really do not like them but my son does.. They are filling but I worry about the calories and the sodium content.. I do believe the sodiom is high and so it wouldn't be good on your blood pressure, might run it up too high.. I also agree that they are inexpensive and could be doctored up very easy with a wide variety of veggies.. But I still don't think that I would like them..

I love ramen noodles and I had never tried them until my husband brought them to my attention a few years ago. Since then I've found lots of recipes using ramen noodles. Asian Beefy Noodles I think is the best one with lots of veggies, oriental noodles and ground beef. Also I just made one last week using beef ramen noodles, pepperoni, ground beef and mozzarella cheese, it was delicious !
