Hi I use a 400GB external USB hard drive, which I use to keep a huge catalogue of music, films and photographs on.

I have this feeling that you find it still small with all those media of yours.

Yup it's filling up fast! I use it for work stuff also, so it's getting crammed full

Sure do. I have a 200GB external drive and most of my home computers are setup to automatically back up to it. so all my pictures, music and documents are safe. That is, unless my house burns down!

Yes I have one(USB) but I don't use it, my son does and I have no idea who manufactured it or how much it holds. He uses it for music and movies. It is a portable 2.5 hard disk drive. I don't use one myself but I may soon need to as my laptop is getting full, again. Most of the time I just put what I want to save on a disk, this gives me a faster laptop.

I've actually got two external harddrives. Between them they store ripped copies of almost my entire cd collection, photos, old websites I've made, current and old uni work, some videos. One is a 300gb one and another 150gb from memory. Have had the smaller one for years now but is no longer recognised by my laptop for some reason which is why I got the new one initially.

I have not purchased any external harddisk for my PCs. But over the years, I have upgraded my PCs, cannibalizing them in the process, plus I have picked up several PCs that people have discarded and I've found usable HDDs in them. In one or two cases, I have mounted the extra HDD as secondary drives within my two PCs, but I still have 3 other standalone HDDs salvaged from older PCs. What I do is to mount them as external HDDs when I need them, by extending the power supply cable out of my PC chassis to supply power to the external HDD and using an IDE-USB cable to connect the HDD to the USB port of my PC. I don't use an external casing for these drives. When I slot the connector into the USB port, Windows recognizes the drive and I can actually use it like an external HDD. I use one drive to store clip arts, another to do backup of my critical files and a third for extra storage when I need it.

I have a 120GB USB external hard drive made by Western Digital. Got it for an absolutely incredible price at Costco. I do some freelance website design and use it to store files forthat purpose. I can go vidit clients and just plug it in to their computer and drag and drop the work I have done onto their system. An invaluable little tool for me.

I don't have one. I still manage to squeeze it in those old HD of mine and regularly write some off to DVD disc.
