Specialists telling me to wait until it gets worse!!!

I'm wondering what the heck doctors are doing these days! I've had to go to an eye doctor and was told I'm in the "early" stages of cataracts but have to WAIT until they get worse to be able to get surgery. I've been losing my hearing for a long time and on top of that I hear a noise in one ear that is driving me nuts...it sounds like my heater is always starting to come on and it's so loud that I have to turn my tv up almost to it's highest to be able to hear it. When people talk to me I can hear the sounds but can't make out the words they are saying but I'm not deaf so I'm told I have to WAIT until my hearing is gone! I was always under the impression that if we caught these things in the early stages something could be done to take care of them but it doesn't seem like that's happening to me. It's not because of my insurance because I've had many other things taken care of immediately.
So, what's up with these guys? Is it just me or has anyone else had this experience with doctors and specialists?

My mom has cataracts and that is also what they told her they have to get to a certain point before they will do the surgery. She dosen't know if she could handle having surgery though. I don't know much about catarcts though.

Yikes, it doesn't sound like fun at all.
I had no idea baout having to wait for cataracts to ripen - but I do know that once it's done, you will be dealing with some serious pain (due to sunlight). So perhaps waiting is the best thing.
Sounds like you've got tinnitis. That can be caused by medication, hypertension, high blood pressure, and injury to the ear. Unfortunately other than lowering your blood pressure, there's not a lot you can do. There are centers for dealing with tinnitus - did you know that William Shatner suffers from it?
So ask your Doc about it, see what he has to say. if nothing, then I recommend that you check out tinnitus on the web. You should at least be able to understand it better.

I'm sorry to learn about the cataracts problem your having. I have heard that cataracts have to become ripe to be removed. Here is a place that answers your question too.

Specialist advice is some thing which we should respect. I am sorry to know about what sorts of problems you are going through. For cataracts yes you have to wait untill it gets worse so that it can be cured. These is some point where it stops getting worse and then they will do the surgery. With your ear i guess there is a cure for that and consult a good ENT specialist surgeon for that. Wish you good luck and hope you will get cured of all these soon. May god bless you.
