Why are so many people using the same avatar?

OK, I've noticed that a whole lot of people are using this one avatar that looks like some little brown dog surrounded by a blue background. I haven't looked at it up close, but that's what it looks like to me as a thumbnail. Is this an inside joke? Just curious.

oh, i sit? i have to see what you actually say. few months back many used a vatar as the person got banned who had that avatar. it was aform of protest may be it is something same this time?

I haven't really noticed it, but I wish i will not have to see it... I don't know, for me, the reason why we put an avatar is to have our own picture as a sort of identification other than our username/nickname here... so i think, it would be better if we have different avatars. *winkz*

Katiedoubleu posted a link above that explained it pretty well. It's some kind of protest in support of a banned member whom I don't think I knew.

well i guess they were really close to each other so they use it as their trademark. but sometimes i'm really confused on them on which is which lol

I know, I'm the same way. I identify people with their avatar. I think this change is only going to happen for a week.
