How long did your baby drink from a bottle?

Baby Bottle - Some babies drink from bottles until they are 3 years old, while some go to a training cup by 3 years old.

My 2 were off by the time they were 11 months. But they should have it no longer that 12months I think.

sippy cup - use a non leak cup.
All three of my kids stopped using their bottle on their 1st b-day. I start giving them a sippy cup with water in it at about 6mo. or when they can sit up by themselves. I would put it with the toys they would be playing with and they would play with it.

hmmm I dont know if there is an age... My boy was 2 years old when he got sick and simply didnt want his bottle anymore. But he was happily having his twice daily bottle of milk (real milk) and it is healthy for them to have all the milk they can. A friend of mine pushed her young one into drinking from a sippy cup as soon as possible, but I say whatever goes. I will not push any child into doing something. They grow up too damn fast to try to turn them older than they are.

My son is 13 months old, and he drinks out of both the bottle and a sippy cup. We could probably take him off the bottle entirely, but sometimes it's just easier.

well, in my experience we start giving them a sippy 8 months. you may have to try several different kinds because sometimes they don't take to the first one. but then they basically break themselves at 12-16 months in my experience sometimes when they are sick they may want a comfort bottle now and then but thats ok. but i would start introducing a sippy between 6-8 month so they will be used to it and take to it better.

My 3 older kids were all off the bottle by the time they turned 13 months. I started offering a sippy cup when they were 5-6 months old but never once put formula in it. They only got water or juice in the sippy. By the time they turned 1 they were usually down to one bottle at night and by a few weeks later that was gone and they were drinking milk out of a cup at meal times. I never had a problem with it. I can't stand seeing older kids with a bottle hanging out of their mouth, espeically when it is filled with sugary drinks and soda. That is what a cup is for.

i don't have a baby yet, but on my opinion, we should let bottle feed the baby until 3 years old and train her afterwards to drink on the cup.

Well, I heard that a infnat should be on rice cereal at 4 - 6 mo and off the bottle by 12 mo 18 mo at the LATEST! My daughter was off of the bottle at 12 mo and she did just fine. We gave her a tippy cup of milk in place of her night time bottle, which is usually the hardest to get rid of!

And they like you..had the same probs gettin there child off the Sippy Cup...I never understood this method..but to each there own..I just stopped his bottle at age 1..and I made a big thing out of letting him pick out his own new sippy cups..and the first night i went to take him off..i said.with GREAT EXCITEMNT LIKE IT WAS CANDY TO A CHILD LOL..Mommy willlet you have a drink from this beautiful thomas train cup..if you give mommy your bottle....okkkkk???? and he really thought about it..and he nodded and handed it to me..i put some milk in it..enough for a few drinks..and he was sooooo happyyyy!1 and he was fine going to bed with out his bottle..i bought 7 new sippys..and each night..the same thing..and that was the end of his bottle drinking..and he didnt even care when he went to bed..,,have a great one!!

Most doctors tell you that they should be off the bottle by 12 months. But all kids are different. My daughter stopped the bottle at 10 months. But she was early with everything. I think by 16 months they should be on a sippy cup.

I weened my kids from the bottle at about 10-11 months old. I think that it is the parent's decision when they should take the bottle away, Personally I thought that a year was too old.

My family told me when I was 6 years old, and I believed on them, as I can recall, when I was 6, they gave me coke instead of milk and it explode! after that, I stopped drinking in a bottle.

My son was about 13 mos when I got him off the bottle. My daughter was off the bottle at 8 mos. My peditrician wants the babies to be off the bottle between 9-12 mos. He says that at about 8-9 mos they start to loose intrest and "play with it". In other words, chewing on the nibble, shaking it, etc. He said at that time, if they're not taken away they later become attatched to it. Everyone has their own opinion though.

My older daughter was off of the bottle by the time she was 12 months old, and went to those spill proof cups. I am starting my second daughter on the sippy cup once a day with a little bit of apple juice mixed with water. She is 7 months old today and will take to it once in a while
