I have windows XP (my other computer) and I get to the sign in screen and I click my account and type in my password and then it says welcome and then just stays there. I don't know why this is happening. Does anyone know how I can fix it? thanks!

Try to login in safe mode and do a disk scan. If you could log on as an administrator created a new account for an alternative account for trouble shooting purposes such as this where in you could do a system scan.

It could be a third party software conflict makes the system perform slow or freeze.Boot the computer in safe mode to do that restart the PC, within 3 seconds start tapping the f8 key on your keyboard. You will get windows advanced boot menu options screen.choose safe mode and press enter. When it boots to the safe mode desktop try to unistall unwanted softwares ,antivirus software in add\remove programs.Restart it in normal mode and check the status.
