Buying Cat Litter in Bulk

We have four indoor cats and our friends have six. With that many cats, I think we could save some money if we bought our litter in bulk. Have you ever bought cat litter in bulk? If so, are there any places that you would recommend?

I have 14 cats. They are upstairs, downstairs and on the porch! There are many litter boxes and I like you need to buy in bulk. I have found that the 40lb bag at Dillons/Krogers is the best for the price...up to 8.99 now. I let them know I want several and they order it for me and call when the truck comes in. When it goes on sale I buy what they have and then get rain checks. That is how I am able to order 10 at a time. I have even tried to research making my own. I wish you luck.

Do the big 40 lb bags come in clumping? I don't care for the clay litter much and it seems that's what I usually find in the really big bags. 40 lbs for 8.99 would be great.

I've only bought it in bulk a couple of times. I'm not sure where you are located, but Costco and Sam's Club both have locations worldwide, and they carry several different brands. You could also go to a local pet shop(not Petsmart or anything, but a small local shop) and ask if they would order a bulk order for you. They may even give you a discount. I'm not sure how much cat litter you are actually looking to store, but if you have plenty of room, you can get quite a bit of savings on buying at least 10 bags. The dollar store near me actually carries cat litter. While it isn't a name brand, all the cat does is ruin it anyways, it may as well be cheap. :)

That's a good idea about approaching a shop owner. We have a new feed store just down the road from our house. They carry dog food and cat food, I wonder if they carry cat litter. Even if the don't, I'm sure they can get it from the same suppliers that provide them with cat food and dog food. They might be able to work me a deal if I buy an entire We have a good sized shed, so I could store it pretty well.

all the time.i go through it so fast,it wouldn't be cost effective for me to buy the smaller bags. i had 6 previously, and at that time they weren't selling the larger bags, had no choice but to buy several of the other. i get mine either at walmart or petco. my cats seem to like the tidy cat multi cat litter the best.
