How many people ask to be your friend?

I've currently got six (6) waiting for approval; I'm very choosy about those I approve. I prefer to check out their discussions first, seeing if we have anything in common. I also see if they've responded to one of my discussions in the past--if it's intelligent and thoughtful, I'm more likely to approve them. So how about you?

I am not choosy at all when it comes to approving friends here. I approve everyone! I have a lot of friends because I am very popular and awesome. Everyone wants a piece of me. What can I say?

So, do you get paid more for having more friends? I can't figure it out--I didn't realize that myLot was a popularity contest! Can you fill me in please?

Hehehe. I was only kidding in my response! Having more friends does not give you more money. I guess unless it helps you get more responses...

Well, having more friends to get more responses makes sense, but I can't possibly figure out how that's going to work! I allowed someone to become my friend in the early days I was on...and she SPAMMED ME! I think that's one of the most rude things someone can do!

Well , I guess with the pre-requisites to be fortunate enough to become your friend, I don't seem to have much chance. I am so sad for that ! But, any way, I wish you all the best and have a happy circle of friends. But, wait a minute , on second thought , I might submit my application too ! Is that ok ?

I looked at your profile and you seem to be rather intelligent. We were all new once--go ahead and apply!

As I mentioned in one of your discussions I log on sometimes and then contribute to the site for periods varying from 1 to 10 or 11 days and then don't come on for a long time. Generally each time I have at least four or five requests. I had six this time today and have accepted three. I generally check up the persons profile and if I find it interesting or even passable then I accept the invitation, else I reject it. If its a new user, then I wait for the next time around and see the persons activities and then take a call.

It seems that more and more veterans of myLot are taking their time to check people out. I have been more cautious lately; instead of outright denying them, I'll let them stew for a while. I really don't want to get hit with a spammer or stalker!

I also check out the discussions they've posted too--if I'm interested, I'll respond to theirs and then approve them. If they're still new, I'll check out some of their responses, but I might make them wait a few weeks, to see if they continue to be active!

That's quite impressive! Do you find the time to respond to their discussions too? Imagine if you had 1000 friends, and each posted 3 discussions a day? Or 5, or 10? You'd be swamped trying to respond to all of them! Well, good luck and welcome to myLot!

Do you approve everyone then, or do you check their profiles first, to see what types of discussions they're posting? I try to be a bit selective, since my friends are a reflection on me.

none of them asked to be my friend, and i don't like to request to be a friend, i don't like to make friends here in mylot, i will look to make friends in other sites and chatting sites, like hi4 and perfspot, myspace, why do you care that much about making friends, to give you more discussions? or do you want them to comment your discussions? have a nice mylotting!!

It started as a much smaller site (about 60k), and many of my friends and I responded to one another's discussions regularly . I had to turn off notifications when my inbox began to overflow. I don't really care if I have a lot of friends here--all I did was ask a question! Sheesh!

I was kinda shock reading your discussion but it is fine because it is you, and nothing could change that. I was thinking what if I asked to be one of your friends but just get denied or rejected at time. It is usually your choice because for me, I don't usually select those who wants to be my friend. Without having second thoughts at all, I automatically approve their request but most of the time it is I that is the one merely responsible for asking for some request of friendship approval. No hard feelings my dear friend, just want to share my point of view. Have a great time.

I just try to be careful, especially with problems going on here lately (several of my friends have been banned for seemingly no reason) . I generally don't ask to be friends anymore; I typically get 1 to 2 requests a week (sometimes more). These are from up to a month ago--and I don't know any of them (never responded to one of my discussions). I'd probably approve them if they responded to one of my discussions though. Thanks for your thoughts--there's nothing wrong with that!
