Does This Ever Happen To You....

Lost Item - The word lost...

The other night my husband, brother and I were watching a movie and I fell asleep on the couch with my glasses on. When the movie was over they woke me up and I remember taking my glasses off, folding them up and going to lay in bed. I can't, for the life of me, remember what I did between the time I folded my glasses and laid in bed and now my glasses are missing and I'm forced to wear an old pair, which is spotted and the wrong prescription. My husband and I searched under furniture, in dressers, in the desk and everywhere we can think of and they have just vanished. Has something like this ever happened to you, where you have forgotten where you have put something and the item has just seemed to vanish into thin air? Has the item ever turned up or is it still a mystery as to where the item vanished to?

hi sassy! yeah, it happened to me quite many times before. they just seem to vanish and i can't find it for the life of me. i would remember putting it, like on a table, and then it is gone ...so i would wonder and look in other places...then after like several days or even weeks, it is just on the table where i first left it. it is really weird, and i get the weirdest feeling. and there is really nobody moving my things around because i am the only one in my room, crazy!

When I was young, I loved those scratch 'n' Sniff stickers and I would put them on a blank piece of paper and then I would freehand draw a bigger copy of the picture on the sticker and I made all of my drawings into a little book. One day, that book just disappeared. I had it one minute, set it down to go outside for a few minutes and when I came back, it was gone. I never found it and everyone searched the house for it. No one ever fessed up to taking it so, if it was taken for whatever reason, I never learned of it. I still wonder what ever happened to it. I hope you find your glasses. Do you have any pets that may have taken them and buried them somewhere? A cat in the litter box? A dog in the back yard? One other time, I had a sleep over and my friend took her bra off. The bra went missing and was never found. I suspect my brother but, he never fessed up. Imagine how embarrassing that was. It is still embarrassing to think about as I am sure my friend spread lies about me or my family all around school. Oh, and after that overnight, she and I stopped being friends. LOL!

You never know what those cats are capable of. My mom's cat took her toothbrush once and buried it in the litter box. LOL! They do the strangest things and, since the are sort of fickle, when things are a little out of place in their worlds, they sometimes get playful with whatever is somewhere it normally isn't. I have had many knick knacks knocked off tables and countertops because it is new and was never in that spot before. Cats don't like to have their worlds changed and will demonstrate their distaste in odd ways! Just look in places you would never think to look and I bet you will find them. Try to think of places where you have found your cat's toys in the past. Good luck!

Yeah, my that happened with my Jr. High School ring. I took it off one day and laid it in this box where I kept my jewelry and it disappeared. I never did find it and I too always wondered where it disappeared to. I just hate when this happens because it's so frustrating. I can not, for the life of me, remember what I did with my glasses lol. I don't have a dog but I do have a cat. My husband thought that he may have dragged them under the bed and he did look under there but perhaps I should do a better search for them under there. My catbox is the kind of catbox which has the cover and it's pretty high up. I don't think he could get the glasses in there but I'm sure stranger things have happened, so perhaps I should just do a quick look through in there . Anyway, thanks so much for the suggestions, I really appreciate it!

Too funny! It so frustrating when you can't remember something that you have done. Especially when something is lost in the process lol...

actually just today I had something vanish into thin air. I was going to take a shower before my doctors appointment this morning so one by one I took my earrings off and placed the backs on them and layed them on the tv in my room. after I shower and get dressed and everything I went to put my earrings on and one of them didn't have a back on it anymore.. I KNOW I put the backs on them. I made sure of it. I looked on the floor (even though they were placed in the center of the tv and no way they could have fell). I looked everywhere. I can't find it anywhere, it's so weird. hopefully I will find it but I just can't imagine how it grew legs and walked off like that lol.

I always experience sleeping while watching TV or any movie. But, I have not tried to misplace anything yet, although there are moment when I will be very pissed off to myself since I can't find my comb, cellphone or etc only to find out I am just holding it and just in my pocket! I hope you will find your glasses soon!

Yeah, I do hope that she will find her glasses, soon. Hey, I agree that people misplace their belongings where they will disappear overtime. My oldest sister in the family is always like that. She always misplaces her crap. Then the problem is that she always take all that on me and everyone else. I feel sorry for her, though.

Thanks all, I really hope so too! Your sister shouldn't take it out on you. It's probably just her frustration talking. That doesn't make it right but people do crazy things when they are frustrated about things.

I done that a few times before Sassy! So your not the only one. I do it with my keys all the time. I try and put them by my purse or my nightstand. Sometimes I swear I put them there and their not there. I go searching like a mad woman around the house. Then when I stop looking for them I find them where I thought I put them! So maybe you and your husband are looking to hard! You probably looking right at at them and don't notice!! LOL I hope you find them!! :)

Wouldn't that just be too funny, if I were staring right at them and didn't even know it? Then again, knowing me, it's not much of an impossibility

Theres nothing supernatural about misplacing stuff at home...its just lying down there somewhere waiting for it to be discovered, probably by an humanoid-alien-archeologist 50 yrs in the future!

Who in the world said that it was supernatural. I don't even believe in that crap. What I do think it is is my brain, which is loading down with too much crap these days that I'm surprised I don't forget my own name. In any case, I never even hinted at this situation being supernatural and if you think I did, that certainly wasn't my intention lol...

Hi SassyKittyKat, I lost a watch like that once, but my wife has had this happen several times. Your glasses will turn up, probably in the most unlikely of places. Blessings.

I sometimes take a nap with my glasses on. Other than that, I remove my glasses and put them on the table. One day last summer, I went to a festival. That was when my cell phone somehow fell off my clip and onto the ground without me knowing it. My cell phone's disappeared. I reported to police. Then several hours later, a staff from the festival found it and looked up information that led back to me. That was how the phone came back to me. I was so thankful for that. Hey, some people are so disorganized. They misplace their stuff, meaning they could not find at all. My oldest sister in the family is like that. She even takes all that out on me and the rest of the family.

yes, this kind of things always happen to me. Especially, at mornings, I can't find my glasses so that I have to go to work with my poor naked eyes.

Well, fortunately I still had my old pair of glasses but they are also my old prescription and so, last time I used them I got a lot of headaches. I'm hoping my new glasses will show up somewhere but they haven't yet and it's been a few days now

Quite a lot....especially after my kids are born. I'm often misplacing my glasses and like you I remember folding them and doing something else but can't remember where I've put them....and guess what? It turns up in the most unlikely place! Once I found it right next to the pillow (that's one place I will never keep it at when I am aware...I have a toddler who loves breaking glasses!) And once I found it inside the fridge (I had gone for a drink of water before I went to bed). And sometimes it's been ages before I found the item. One of my good glasses I found when I was spring cleaning. All the time (2 months), I thought it had gone into the dustbin by mistake! I've tried re-tracing my steps (which used to work earlier) but that doesn't help either...because some parts are blank. I would be thinking of something else and keeping things and I wouldn't remember it later. I seem to be doing it a lot more lately...after I had my second child. Too many things on my mind!

Yes, this used to happen to me quite often and hubby was singularly unhelpful in being able to find them, although he would pretend to look. Being extremely near-sighted, I was sort of helpless when that happened. Hubby is funny because when I get up and prowl around in the night without my glasses on he will sometimes turn the light on for me because after 40-odd years he still doesn't comprehend that if I'm not wearing my glasses I can see just as well in the dark as in the light, lol.
