so we are in a place where we can afford a house now and decided to buy a condo. we also decided to go with countrywide for our mortgage! what A HUGE MISTAKE!! our loan consultant started out helpful then morphed into this total a$$hole! at first they said we could do 5% down then 1 week before escrow closes, they need 10%, he never got me a welcome package for my correct loan, he's rude and condescending, i've spoke with his manager and its no help! i feel like we are trapped in this loan and i dont know that its the best loan for us! he wouldn't even submit us for the FHA loan i wanted! said our place wsn't fha approved... do i have any options? i can afford the loan and the rate, i jsut think we could have gotten a better deal... and i dont think he looked out for us, i think he put us in the best loan for his $$

I had a similar problem with a mortgage broker who stuck us with some unexpected fees, never was able to give us any kind of information on the type of loan he was proposing, etc. Actually he was really nice, it was his boss who was the jerk, but he had to back up what his boss told him to do. Since then I've been really careful about mortgages and dealing with brokers especially. I don't know about where you are but here in California you have a right of recission, means you have a period where you are allowed to back out of the loan. Not totally cost free though. But then, of course, you'd be leaving your seller high and dry while you went for new financing or risk losing your deposit. Not a pretty situation...
