What type of resort? What type of outing? For what duration? Difficult to tell you how to prepare without more information. Is this a day at the beach? The there are only a few things to do. On the other hand is this a long week-end, well preparation is different. Then also there is the type of resort, upscale or casual. Will your company shindig be confined to one area of the resort? Alternatively is it a all day deal starting with breakfast and then ending with a sit down dinner. Finally what types of activities are planned by the company for this event? Or are you simply on your own for the day. Is it a couples event or employees only? You see the short and simple answer is that your company should send out a notice saying what the event is, where it will be held, what activities are planned, the time of the event, and dress code if this is important. If you have been with the company long enough you are going to be a better judge of the atmosphere and culture of organization than anyone here. Is it more formal? Then nicer shorts and a polo shirt with good sandles is a good bet as far as clothing. Bring sun screen to prevent a burn and make sure you apply it at least every few hours. If you plan on swimming make sure that you suit isn't a speedo (bad no matter what anyone says). I usually recommend taking a towel of your own but if you only have ratty towels at home buy yourself a beach towel. Take a change of clothing just in case! More casual company? Standard beach clothing is appropriate then.

So if you are new to the company you should ask around. You might also just go take a peek at the resort site to see what type of resort it is. I still believe that the company should also be telling you if there is any need for you to be taking clothing for a sit down (more formal) mean possibly on Saturday night. So here is the list of what to take - Shorts (3 pair, one for each day and a spare alternative is pair of long pants) T-shirts (3, one for each day and a spare) Polo Shirt (1 for Saturday night if there is nothing formal planned) Swim trunks Tennis Shoes (there are usually times when you will need real shoes) Sandles Socks Underwear (3 pair, one for each day and a spare) Sun Screen Tooth Paste and Tooth Brush Hair Comb Razor (if you need to shave daily don't forget this) Soap (this is a personal issue I hate hotel soap) Shampoo (this is also personal issue I hate hotel shampoo) That is about it. Now I always carry something to read, even on a company outing or event. There are just times when I don't want to be around others and I look for a way to go off by myself. Also carry cash! You will need it for tips and other casual things that the company doesn't cover.

I love going to the beach! I have this unexplainable attachment to the beach! Everytime we go to the beach, I make sure that I have a couple of swimwears. I wouldn't really want wearing the same swimwear for a couple of days. I also bring some good casual clothes I could wear while having fun out of the water. I never forget my sunblock too! Well, if you are looking for other ways to enjoy your outing aside from swimming, then you can play beach volleyball. You can also play frisbee. It also depends on the facilities available in the resort you will be going to. There are lots of resorts that offer great activities.
