Why do you use your online social network? (MySpace, Yuwie, Facebook, etc.)

I was in the Army for 9 months and in that time I became very close, like family, with so many people there. Once I was medically discharged I added all of those people to my MySpace. It is the only means of communication between myself and my Army friends. Originally, I got MySpace because it was a really cool thing to have and my little sister had it. Then, I lost interest because I didn't understand how to really work around it. But, a friend of mine who I hadn't seen in YEARS left me a message. She taught me a lot about it and how to get codes and change my background and stuff like that. So I kept MySpace at that point to find friends that I hadn't seen or talked to in years. Currently I use it to keep in touch with those exact people. Sure, I'll use it and make new friends but most of it is to tell the old ones that I'm still here. Why do you use your online social network? Is it to stay in contact with old friends? Make new ones? Because it's the "cool" thing to do? Or maybe, like me, it's because you made a family that lives all over the country and the world and that's your only means of communication?

I use Myspace as a way to connect with my friends and share pictures of my children. When I first joined Myspace I had found a few old high school friends I hadn't spoken to in nearly 10 years, and that was nice. Many of them live on the other side of the country now, so Myspace is a great way to keep in contact. Yuwie I pretty much only use to earn money and promote my other websites. Those are so far the only social networks I belong to other than Mylot.

That is exactly how MySpace worked for me too. I just built it because my boyfriend (at the time) and my little sister were both using it and I figured it wouldn't be hard to try. Then I got a message from one of my best friends in high school who I hadn't seen in at least 8 years. And now we talk all the time and even, on occasion, meet up for birthdays and such. I haven't tried Yuwie, yet. But from what I see there are so many people on here that are also on there that I might have to give it a try. And of course, I use MyLot almost on a daily basis :D

Yuwie is decent for earning money, if that's what you're into. As I said, I'm not using it as a way of connecting to my friends. I've just joined ZenZuu, which is just like Yuwie, but it's still in prelaunch and looks like the earnings will be better. If you're interested in joining either, I have links on my profile for both.

I like myLot because I know it pays for me to say whatever I feel. But what are some others that pay? I only know of a few and I'd like to know more that are legit...it worries me sometimes when I see money for free but so far myLot hasn't done anything to prove that statement wrong. Let me know of some others and maybe I'll see you on your other sites :D

I use myspace and facebook. I started using facebook first because all of my friends in college were using it, so I thought it would be fun to also try it out. It has been a really good way to keep in touch with them all after graduation, too. I then started myspace later, cause my husband started an account, so I thought I would try that one out, too. My husband is also in the Army, so it is really great for him to be able to keep in touch with all of his friends from back home and all of his old Army friends that are all over the world!

I just wish that our troops (some of whom are friends of mine and probably of your husband) had more time or access to a computer so that we didn't have to wait weeks on end to hear if they are okay.

I used it to find old friends that I graduated high school with. I also found some other people that I hadn't seen or talked to in a long time. Also, my relatives who live far away. My nephew is in the Marines, so it is a good way to keep up with what is happening with him and his life.

I have friends who are going overseas very soon and MySpace is the only way that I can talk to them right now. I will definitely keep your family and your nephew in my prayers. I know how hard it can be.
