Haw many times have you selected best responses among your discussions. What are the criteria you use in choosing the best response. I select the best response when the answer I want was given. There are also special cases where the response answered more than the answer I expected. How about you? :)

I agree with that. They will also keep on responding on your discussions. Choosing best response motivates other to respond with all their effort and through that we can keep the quality of discussions here in myLot. :)

Yes, and the basis would be by comparing it with other responses that really answered your main question on the discussion.

Hello wrangel15! I not only chose best response for each of my discussion but I also read and rate every response and add comment to it. All of this, including choosing a best response, is to show respect for the participation of users in my discussion. MY criteria isn't that difficult and even though it helps me a lot in selecting a best response, there are still times when I am indecisive between two or more responses for some time, but I do finally choose one. For me, the response should be relevant, should cover all major points of the discussion that I have tried to highlight, if it's seeking help, who has provided the mot wanted help, if it's opinion, who have considered all possibilities in a judicious and justified manner (they don't haver to agree with me) and who have given most thought to the questions and to the answers too. Finally, whose response is more communicative, more understand able for average user here who come from many different places. Even though I may find it difficult to finally decide, this criteria helps me narrow down the options. In fact, any criteria, if applied, will help narrow down the options. I try to wait for at least 1 week of inactivity on my discussion before giving a best response. It is to provide maximum people a chance to voice their opinions, thoughts and share their experiences.

I do, wrangel15, that's how it can be described as a discussion rather than just a question and answer session!:-)

Wow, you really take time to read every response on your discussions. Anyway, thats the way we should act for every discussion we make here in myLot.

Sure, I usually select the best response after a week. I think it's a kind of appreciations to others. I love China

That gives me an idea. Selecting the best response somewhat ends the discussion. Waiting the appropriate time to choose the best response is also needed. Its true. Being appreciative will make respondents keep coming back for your other discussions. You also make good friends by choosing the best response.

I do choose best responses for my discussions. I try to let the conversation run for at least 4 or 5 days so that most people have had an opportunity to answer it. I choose the best response by what I truly feel fits that description. Did it answer my question? Did it entertain or educate me? Did it make sense? Did it help me more than the other responses? (if that is aplicable) If there is only one response and it has been up for a while I will give that person the best response basically just to get it out of my unresolved area but I tend to let it run a little longer than others to see if anyone else adds to it.

Yes, I agree with your criteria in choosing the best response. Still the main criteria is getting our question answered. Also, we are not the only one who learns from the pieces of information given but also the other myLotters who come across our discussion pages.

I have been selected two times as best response..... When i find a answer which helps me with lots of information, and which is somewhat unique in nature,I marked it as best response.

Yes, identifying the most unique response is the quickest way to determine the best. Being able to get more than the expected answer/information makes me to mark a response the best in my discussions.

I always give BR in all of my posts, but, there are posts that has few responses still and I am waiting for more additional before I will decide to choose. Since, from my experience, at first i easily give BR and by the following day, i will more responses which are also great in content! So, to be fair, i will wait a week before choosing one!

I do if I see a response that is well written, reasonable and not bias. Like you have just said and I also agreed with you that sometimes there are special cases where the response answered is more than the answer, that is true, I agreed.

I choose basically the same way you do. I tend to ask open-ended questions, and not ones that have a definitive answer, so choosing the "correct" one isn't possible. I tend to choose the one with the best description on if they elaborate more so than others.
