What did you want to do when you were little?

Most children want to do something totally different then they eventually do. I wanted to be a aircraft pilot

Well I was mad on gymnastics when I was little, and spent most of my childhood upside down! So naturally I wanted to become a gymnast. I also wanted to be a violin teacher and a ballet teacher at various stages of growing up. Over the years my schoolwork became more important and I sort of forgot about these ambitions, and when I was at college I toyed with being a journalist but ended up as a civil servant! It's quite sad really that when you're a child you're so certain that you're going to become a gymnast/fireman/aircraft pilot/interior designer etc. but when you're older you lose that belief in yourself! I guess ambitions also have a way of changing as the years pass.

I wanted to be a pianist... ...then I wanted to be a doctor for like many many years. ...then I wanted to be an economist. ...then it was a chemist. ...then it was a pharmacist. ...then it was a writer. I ended up being a lecturer in mass communication theories. Life has a funny way of turning out just great. :)

You were a child with very big ambitions, I'm impressed! And sounds like the job you ended up with was a good one too.

It was...but I'm no longer in that field. Right now, I'm a house manager...just a fancy word for a housewife, catering to my hubby's needs. O'well... Like I said, it's funny how things turned out. :)

I wanted to be an Interior Designer because when we read our comic books, there were always adds in the back of the book showing how you could go to school to be an Interior Designer.. Back then women could be secretaries and that was really about all or it was for a poor girl.. Interior design was something so sophisticated and I knew that I couldn't afford to go to school to do that, so I tried for the secretary but ended up doing something so completely different.. Being an Interior designer when I was going to school would have been equvilalant to a woman being a brain surgeon, it was too big a dream and unattainable for many a young poor girl.. Oh well, now I have HGTV and many other shows teaching me how to design my interior.. Have a great day, Donna

I have the same aspiration just like you. As a kid when I see airplanes flying in the sky, I would stop and have a daydreaming of one day become a pilot and bring it to our area and get my mom and dad to ride. As I grow up, the dream that I had started to dwindle down and my interest has already gone. Your post reminded me of my dream when I was young and tender in age. Thank you for the chance to reminisce the past dreams!
