Schumer vs. FDA

As a result of the recent flap about plastic baby bottles and the alleged dangers of the ingredient chemical bisphenol A (BPA), the FDA released this conclusion.... “Based on our ongoing review, we believe there is a large body of evidence that indicates that FDA-regulated products containing BPA currently on the market are safe and that exposure levels to BPA from food contact materials, including for infants and children, are below those that may cause health effects,” the FDA stated in its media release." In spite of this finding... or perhaps because of it, "Under cover of all the recent alarmist press on BPA and with support of Capitol Hill lobbying by anti-BPA activists and researchers, including the University of Missouri’s Fred vom Saal, Sen. Charles, Schumer (N.Y.) introduced a bill on April 29 to ban BPA in baby and children’s products. “There have been enough warning signs about the dangers of this chemical that we cannot sit idly by and continue to allow vulnerable children and infants to be exposed,” Sen. Schumer said. The bill’s introduction must be considered as a slap in the face to the FDA which had issued a statement the day before reaffirming the BPA’s safety." The manufacturers of BPA have been likened to the tobacco companies and trial lawyers are standing by with their multi-billion dollar lawsuits to once again stick it to big business. This is very appropriate, because it is the same kind of junk science that was used against the tobacco companies in that lawsuit. Activist lawyers are now trying to take on government regulatory bodies in order to try and make a fast buck... and the democrats are right in there helping to accomplish this. See the full story and related links here.... http://www.junkscience.com/ByTheJunkman/20080508.html What are your thoughts on the latest attack on big business by the democrats? First it was big tobacco, then it was non-existent man made global warming, and now this. It seem that the democrats are deliberately trying to destroy our country and society... Any thoughts?

Here is a novel idea, let us the people decided what we want to buy and not buy. Yes I know that with big statest like Schumer cannot help himselves when it comes to something new to outlaw or regulate. Chucky boy gets all hot and bothered when he find out that there is something new to regulate or even outlaw. Oh how I wish Chucky would just outlaw himself. Let us remember that the FDA is under the control of the Bush administration. So nothing that comes out of the FDA matters. The FDA will say whatever the Bush administration wants it to say, or atlest that is what the big statest want you to believe.

No, we can't have people just deciding what they will or will not buy... people are not smart enough to make a decision like that. It is probably best to let the government make those decisions, as the nanny state knows best. Once choice and selection are limited, then outmoded ideas such as Free Enterprise and a Free Market Economy have no use or place. It is probably better to have the people controlled much like sheep, that way they will quietly submit to the slavery that is their just end, for they are no bett than cattle... a labor force to be used and used up in whatever way the ruling elite see fit. That is the future that the liberals have3 in store for us common people... a society that is totally controlled and docile, where family, God, and morality have no meaning, and where Freedom and Liberty is just a fabled dream that didn't work out. Welcome to the North American Union and the New World Order.
