More excitement across the street today!

Some of you should remember my post from a couple of months ago about the neighbors across the street getting busted for selling drugs. Well, the cops were back again today, but this time for a different reason. I don't know if the people were evicted or what, but they had left with a truckload of their stuff 2 nights ago and they had left their three dogs in the side yard. So the cops showed up with Animal Control this morning and they were there for about an hour. They fed the dogs and then caught them and put two of them in the Animal Control vehicle, and the third got to ride in the back seat of the police cruiser. The third one looked very happy to get out of that place too. I can't take credit for Animal Control being called, as much as I would like to. But someone made the call and I'm so glad they did. I have the feeling that those poor dogs were abandoned, so now they will have a chance at good loving homes and families. Have any of you ever dealt with or witnessed situations like this one? Did you get involved at all? Or did someone else "beat you to it"?

Hi PPP, that is super good news for the dogs...Now they can find families that really love them. I found a female boxer roaming the streets the other day and took her to my daughters because I had a doctors appt..Anyway, later that day the owner was driving around looking for her and he saw her at my daughters... My daughter was calling her Missy and that just happened to be her real name... Haven't come upon any abuse cases or animals left after owner leaves type of thing, but if it happens, I will get involved..

How awesome that the owner found his dog. I just wish I had known that the dogs were still there across the street. I would have definitely called. But they weren't making noise or anything. I guess that's because they had each other for company. I know that if I hadn't had my Buddy, I would have definitely taken the pit bull for sure. I hope they all get good homes too. Thanks PPP.

I've never witnessed any animals being abandoned as of yet but if I ever had, I would be quick to call if I can't catch them myself and take them in to rehome.

Lucky you! It's so hard for me to see people doing this to animals. It always makes me wonder how heartless they really are. Thanks hon. Hugs!

I called CPS on a group that lived next door to us. when CPS broke up the household, they left, abandoning their 2 dogs. When I discovered they had abandoned their dogs, I caught them and put them in my back yard until I found a rescue to take them.

Believe me, if I had known those babies were still across the street, I would have done the same thing you did. But the poor things didn't let out a peep.

I sometimes find lost dogs; most of the time I found the owners; Once, I could not. The dog became my pet. One time a cat adopted me.

I've had a few dogs show up here too. But the owners came looking for them thankfully. I have three cats that adopted me as well. People dropped them off on my front porch, and I just can't resist the meow of a tiny kitten. LOL

Cant believe they just left the dogs!! Who knows where they have gone and what trouble they will cause but I bet your glad they are no longer on your street!! lol Hopefully the three dgs will go to a loving home and will forget about being left behind!! Ive bever had to ring Animal Control as living in maisonettes, we arent allowed dogs in the upstairs apartments.

Actually yesterday afternoon, one of the people showed up. But she didn't even act as if she cared that the dogs were gone. I think the people were evicted or something because they have been moving stuff out of the house. Good riddance as far as I'm concerned.

How terrible! I just can't understand how someone could just take off and leave those dogs in a cage to fend for themselves. Maybe those people actually have a heart and called animal control themselves. It just amazes me how some people have no morals.

It amazes me too. I'm thinking the owner of the rentals was the one that called because he was there at the same time. At any rate at least they are out of there and not suffering. Thanks hon.

This almost sounds like what I had started in my discussion about the newest victims of the foreclosure business where people just abandoned their pets and high tail it away from the foreclosed home and leave their pets behind. Mmmm...as far as Animal Control? I hate to say it but since I know how Animal Care And Control usually operates can think in terms that those dogs will be put down then...AC&C is usually so overwhelmed with abandoned and unwanted pets that most are put down for the slightest reason...age, not perfect health or even "wrong" breed..for instance if any of those dogs were pit bulls most shelters like AC&C put them down right away

Hopefully this particular branch will be able to find homes for these dogs instead of putting them down. They have a really good reputation with doing that, and I think they will stick to it to keep the community happy( at least I hope they will anyway). Thanks hon.
