How long should a nurse call you from the waiting room at a doctor's office?

I had to wait at my physician's office for at least 45 minutes to 55 minutes until I get called. My appointment is at 9:00 a.m. I am the first person to sign the list with my name on it. Isn't this too long? What do you think? I arrived early, I was so early, that I had to stand outside the door.

I always wait at the doctors office forever! Sometimes it has been up to 2 to 3 hours before I get called back. I do now ask for the first appointment in the morning but even then it can be late if the doctor had been called to the hospital for something.

Yes, doctors need to work on their speed. The receptionist hate to see us late, but yet it is okay for them to be late.

I think it is ridiculous how long you have to wait at the doctors office. I don't know why a lot of them over book like that. My kids doctor does not do that thank goodness. I usually get in a room within 5 minutes of showing up and the doctor is in the room a few minutes after that. I think no more than 15 minutes is long enough to wait.

YES, certain doctors that I do go to, does not take so long, but this doctor does. I used to go to another doctor at Cedars Medical Clinic. They took so long to call me. I believe that I did not get called until 2 to 3 hrs later. I felt like I was waiting at a hospital or something... Now, I go to this doctor, and it still takes long, but not as long as Cedar's does.

Hi cream97! I do think that if your appointment is 9am, then you should be called at that time; and you can give an allowance of 10-15 minutes; 45-55 minutes is too long to make a patient wait. Just my thoughts dear friend. Take care and have a nice day!

Yes that is too long. Now, if I had to be late, then they would want me to reschedule.

Hello cream I've had that problem too. I hate it when you get there early and then wait almost a hour. I personally think you should not have to wait more than twenty minutes and less than that if you get to the appointment early!
