Like everyone else we also live paycheck to paycheck but this does not stop us from helping people that are in need. I donate time at the local food pantry and help organize special events and fund raiser throughout the year. Do you do anything to help the hungry in your community and if so what do you do?

I do a food drive with a local school every Nov/Dec for the last 9 years. We have raised, on average, about 5000 pieces a year that go directly to many food banks that are in the area. It is a real kick to have the students chart and graph the items as they come in. We also do a volleyball benefit with the teachers taking on local business people. This year will be our 10th annual event so it will have to be big! What do you do? Are there any other causes you like to stand behind?

I have dozens of events that I contribute to, I help to do fundraisers for CP, Alzheimers, Brain Injury, Cancer. We just got finished doing the walk for hunger in Massachusetts, with all the contributions I got I was able to raise 3,500 because I walked the whole 20 miles. I would encourage anyone to take one day out of the year and help with any of these worthy causes.

Can you imagine how much life would change if everyone took a day (or even a few minutes a day) to concentrate on their favorire cause! Illiteracy would be gone. Cancer would be gone. Hunger and need would be taken care of. How can a person motivate other people to help? How can we create a movement to take care of the needs of our community?
