No, this is not a Troll message, Nine Inch Nails announced that they will be giving away their latest album for free. It is now available for download on their official website www.nin.com When I first heard it on the news, I thought they must have smoked one joint too many. So I popped over to the website to check it out, and discovered the true genius behind the whole deal. In order to download the album, you have to register with a valid email, allowing the band to build a massive mailing list for future use. From what I heard, albums don't really make money for singers anyways, its the touring that racks in the cash. So Nine Inch Nails traded an album for a targeted mailing list, brilliant marketing.

i was very excited about this post and the new NIN album.. i just went to the site and got my access link..and dl`ed the album. very disapointed really.. and am not surprised theyre giving it away. ive been a fan of NIN for years, and this new release bluntly stated.. sux. alot of instrumental tracks that really just sounded like noise and feedback. bad quality, lots of static.. you get the gist. so ..;sigh;.. to me it just sounds like they took leftovers from old tracks that were edited out of older albums.. tossed it into a mix and released it. thanx for passing the link along tho..

they did the same thing with the I think it was titled "Ghosts" album. but with that one you could only download the first five tracks for free. I was never in to NIN so it doesn't really affect me.

that is very cool, I will have to remember to tell my husband, he likes NIN. Me, not soo much, lol. But it is true, bands do not get much from their album sales, they make way more from their tours.

My 'strictly for things I suspect will spam me later' e-mail is really going to come in handy, here. haha. This is great. I won't have to look for low quality torrents later. I can just go straight to the source right now. :P Thanks for sharing this. I'm really out of the loop with things like this, but I'll definitely take the knowledge. I think the remark on the site was amusing. 'This one's on me.' hehe.
